I figured out where you were. I won't tell. My wife and I have done some canoeing and fishing in Algonquin. Looking forward to this season. We are both retired now. I'm a 1961 too.

It's a lovely place. I hope they will open the parks up soon. I understand maybe having the main attractions closed (too much traffic, garbage for staff, washroom utilization), but it makes little sense to stop backcountry access. I've heard that it would be unfair for first responders to come in for a distress call. Someone sick is unlikely to be going into the wilderness, for starters. What are they doing now in the big cities as first responders? Over-reaction in my opinion. It certainly would disperse people into non-contact areas.

canoeman1961 I agree. I would love to “socially distance” in Algonquin backcountry.

Your release method is like mine. No net ,no handling . The single hook fishing is great too.

No worries I found out where (photos) you were by the outhouse at the AP and the posts also in the same area. I worked a summer from that area and is probably one of the best unofficial nature trails. I can't say much more or i will give location away. I can say this....while we were working just up from your 5K lake destination were two bear cubs that came by for a quick visit just to end our day about an hr shy of a full work day. Mom was most likely around the corner and didn't feel like an introduction, so we packed up our tools and headed out on the mnr 4wheeler.

Set the hook!!! Jerk the pole to set the hook in the fish’s mouth. Then reel it in. Don’t reel first. Sorry. I got so frustrated watching you. Wanted to yell into the TV! 😂. Glad you had fun. Nice video

Haha ! Can't teach an old dog new tricks, it seems. Also, I never fish with bait (live, or dead, as in this case) ... the exception is ice fishing ... which isn't really fishing IMHO. It's a social event, which happens to include dropping a line down a set hole, and waiting ... and waiting ... and waiting ! Usually I'm working on the feel of retrieving a tossed lure ... whole other ballgame. I enjoy the aspect of tossing into tight corners and under stuff. Cheers.

You got the ice fishing thing mostly right. You forgot about drinking beers while waiting and waiting and waiting. Great attitude. Loved your video

I said the same in my comment. He’s missing so many fish by flipping his bale open like that. It’s not teaching you new tricks, it’s the right way to fish bud. So freaking weird and really frustrating to see. Had to move on

Can I offer to donate 15$ to upgrade your Beach ball bobbers please? they drive me crazy.
@canoeman19612 жыл бұрын
I know. I have lots of sliding bobbers, etc. I even had them with me. But these guys were 3 feet (1 metre) down, and it was just so easy to clip these cheep ones on. And adjustments were 3 seconds.

I enjoy your videos, thanks. What site are you on 18:00

Close your bail!!! Why even have it open? That why your missing fish. Your hook set pull must get get faster. Your just slowly winding to the fish and he’s already gone!! Way to many missed fish! Never saw someone purposely open the bail before trying to set the hook!!!

I know. I know. I rarely float fish. Maybe once a year (not counting ice fishing). Half the time you fall asleep waiting. Besides, with the line straight out to the bobber, and 90 degrees straight down from there, there's always slack to make up. I much prefer lure fishing, which has you engaged all the time, and not daydreaming. But it's still fun. Besides, I go for the adventure here, as this is a long walk to get to. I actually walked in 3 days ago (water was already warmed up), but still hooked 3. I pinched the barb, and had a weedless guard, so flipping them off the hook was quick and easy.

are you using live bait?
@canoeman19615 жыл бұрын
Nope. I bring a jar of freshly salted minnows. About 100 of them.
