you can still solve 13:44 with Desmos by just putting in zx^2+6x=3 and then plugging in each listed value for z until the X lines align

hey so i am not so sure about answer choice c 15:53 I already looked at the comments and I do not disagree with the answer because a and c should be canceled out but it's because I don't think "a light-colored covering to an existing dark roof helps combat this effect" is an independent clause because it says "this effect" which refers to the previous sentence meaning it's dependent In my opinion, answer choice c would be right if it said "helps combat heating effects." Hope you see this comment.
@preppros7 ай бұрын
Hi, no there's a few common misconceptions that are resulting in you getting tripped up and not understanding why C is correct, hopefully this clears it up and helps you avoid making a similar mistake on test day. 1) Answer choices A and C are not identical so although one has a semicolon and the other has a period, you cannot cross them off. You can only do so when they are identical. 2) The use of what i teach as reference words such as "this effect" or those or it has nothing to do with creating a dependent clause. I'd recommend checking out the lessons in the free trial as that is addressed in depth.

hey mike do you know the 2 solutions for the equation (x+2)/2=(x+2)/4
@preppros6 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew, That would only have 1 solution of x=-2. You may be referencing a question that asked something along the lines of having a similar question but asking for the value or the range of x+2 falls between which of the following pairs of values. If so, you would add 2 and find which pair of values contains the x value of 0.

I don't understand how you get the answer to the question 13:41. I got how you used desmos to get those two lines to intersect, but how do you get the answer from multiplying the x value (-735) by 2 when the question says it wants the value of 2a-2b. From what i understand, -735 should be the value of (a-b).
@preppros6 ай бұрын
Yes, -735 is the value of (a-b). Since the question is asking for 2a-2b which is no different than 2(a-b) or 2(-735)

Hi Mike... international student here. I have my SAT exam in two days and I took bluebook practice test 5 today. I felt like I had prepared well this time and that I could get a 1500+. But I ended up with around 1300 in the practice test. Any tips?
@preppros6 ай бұрын
Hi, bit tricky to answer based off of that alone. What made you feel like you could get a 1500+? What had you done to prepare? How had you been scoring on practice tests?
@smrithi226 ай бұрын
@@preppros I had prepared for maths using your book, and used other books for english. I was able to do well and I felt like I was gradually improving using the books. I hadn't taken any practice tests as I had given those practice tests earlier and I remember the answers.
@preppros6 ай бұрын
What was your score breakdown across Math and Reading & Writing? How much time had you given yourself to prepare? What level questions were you up to in the book? Have you been tracking the questions that you missed and reviewing the chapters and questions that you missed on your first pass through the book? It's really important to be able to periodically take practice tests as it forces you to recall what you have learned across different chapters and content as you study. Oftentimes, a huge challenge for preparing for standardized tests is that you can master a topic but then forget it as you go and learn more content. If you let me know what questions you missed, I can recommend what chapters correspond to those topics to help you close the gap as much as possible before your test.
@smrithi226 ай бұрын
@@preppros In my practice tests and previous SATs, my maths score always ranged from 710-780 and english score always ranged from 610-690. I had been preparing for past 3 weeks. I tried to solve all the questions in the book including the difficult ones. For maths I focused on solving questions from chapters that I usually get wrong (like graphs, parabolas, statistics and tricky questions in general) and for English I focused my preparation on reading section. I was able to solve more questions than I could earlier and I felt like I was improving. I took practice test 5 and 6 on the Bluebook app yesterday and my scores were much lower than I expected, even though I got higher scores on practice tests I had done earlier with the same amount of correct answers. Also Mike, what do you anticipate about the difficulty level of reading and writing section in May SAT?
@preppros6 ай бұрын
Okay, that's definitely a bit odd that you get much lower scores on tests 5 & 6 while getting the same number of questions correct. Most likely that means you missed more easy questions which cost you more points. It's possible that you just made more "silly" mistakes since it sounds like you felt more confident solving more questions. I'd recommend spending these last two days reviewing your mistakes across all of the practice tests, identifying exactly why you made them and what you need to do to avoid them on test day. Additionally, if you noticed any mistakes are from areas that you are not confident in, review those corresponding chapters and do some additional practice. I anticipate that it will be similar to march and similar to the difficulty of practice tests 5 & 6.

@preppros6 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew, It's a very complex process. The scoring methodology being used is called Item Response Theory. Simplistically, questions have different weights to them based on their difficulty, which means the exact number of questions that you miss test to test is not as important as the difficulty of the questions that you miss. Students could miss the exact same number of questions but a student who misses many easy questions will have a score far lower than a student who misses an equal number of hard or very hard questions. Hope this makes sense without getting too into the details!
