I cannot tell you how limited my modeling has been because I never understood this process. I knew you could combine objects to move as one but never fully understood how you allow two verts to share one point on a model. Thank you for helping me!

Yes but does this work when you have two completely different meshes with different topology? For, example, if I had a mutant character but I want to attach an extra rm or moveable limb to him. Wouldn't combining them mess up the vetex order?

Very dangerous to merge vertices if you dont delete the face underneat them. It will cause problem in the future

maya is about ridiculous with the million moves just to accomplish a simple joining of objects. a button called 'join objects' would be nice and they could keep the 'combine' and 'merge' tools separate. "group" should be the tool which joins multiple objects together without all the nonsense of merging vertices. It's aggravating to 'separate' combined objects and the entirety of everything combined is separated. - Maya is seriously a horrible program
