We can all count ourselves lucky to still be breathing in. 😊 I plan to participate, although I’m not sure yet what I will read by Angelou.

Pat is a wonderful friend. I'm glad you put Caged Bird Sings up on your list. It is a must-read to understand the woman Maya Angelou became. I'm reading Gather Together and it's just as poignant. Thank you for watching. Aloha

Lovely video, Marilyn. That's a wonderful poem that you read on aging. I have the Modern Library edition of her Complete Poetry, which was published in 2015. It's a beautiful book. I don't know if you saw my wrap-up video yesterday, but I did talk about this readathon, and I read a little Maya poetry for you as well. This is a beautiful event, my friend. ❤

Good luck with the readathon! I read some excerpts of Ms. Angelou's books, and some of her poems, in junior high English class. I also fondly remember her reading "On the Pulse of Morning" at President Clinton's first inauguration, one of many things which really represented what a welcome new era his presidency ushered in.

Aloha, Marilyn - I read Caged Bird and loved it and have ordered Gather in My Name from my library, which thankfully hasn’t banned her books. What a travesty! As a retired librarian, it’s chilling to me that there are people appointed to decide what you can and cannot read. Have they even read the books they ban? I doubt it.

@@TerryJ950Hi Terry, thankfully, Hawaii Is state that is open-minded. I find most of the band books that I hear about on booktube. I doubt that people who banned books are readers in general because reading opens your mind. I’d even go as far as saying that reading fights racism, and hate in general. I’ve always loved and respected librarian so much. I’m honored that you watch my channel. Aloha friend.
