While I agree, this was admittedly an incredibly unusual case, with such extremes rarely witnessed in the entire career of all those involved particularly the induced coma Mya was routinely subject to often for in excess of 7~10 days at a time & using a very little known about drug called Ketamine due to its infancy in medical use , much less subject to safety testing and /or uses studied within the application for medical care in very young minors under the age of 10 years old. And as such, particularly as humans are prone to mistakes, it doesn't surprise me what occurred, but having said all of that, for absolute life of me, I'll never ever comprehend how a mother so devoted to & with such love for a daughter could conceivably consider depriving said child of a mother & all that accompanies that, particularly while already enduring extraordinary circumstances that abandoning ones child to navigate alone without the presence & love of a mother by her side is an unimaginable infliction of cruelty I simply cannot conceivably comprehend.

part of why people aren't believed is because others lie. Those who lie hurts those who are being honest. This happens in any setting. edit In November 2018 it was revealed that the mortality rate in its pediatric heart surgery program was very high. The surgeons in the pediatric heart surgery program made serious mistakes and procedures went wrong in unusual ways. Surgeons in the program had lost needles in two infants’ chests and infection rates of patients spiked.[18] The problems started after the departure of program leader Dr. James Quintessenza after hospital officials had disputes with him. The surgeons that were hired to replace Quintessenza were lackluster in their techniques and mortality rates tripled in a period of two years.[19][20] Hospital officials decided to send complicated cardiac cases to other hospitals, but even routine cases also had very high mortality rates. After years of cover ups, officials at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore fired many top level hospital officials and the surgeons involved.[21][22] After a detailed investigation in 2019, the Florida Department of Health fined the institution $804,000. The fine was the most any Florida hospital had ever received.[23][24] The hospital has also settled with some of the 11 families affected by the program totaling around $40 million.[25] Administrators have announced that the hospital will implement new policies and structural changes to address the core issues that allowed the troubled heart program to continue. The hospital has since started to rebuild by hiring back Quintessenza, and hiring other respected pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons.[26][27]

The second we stop drinking the corporate Kool-aide they target to get rid of us. So it’s important that the public know what we risk when we advocate for what’s right. But losing my job to save a human is a no brainer. Jobs come and go. Life does not have a second chance. So I’ll lose my job on repeat if it means I’m advocating for what’s right. I just watched the documentary on Netflix and at first, I was mad at her mom for deciding to do that and leaving her son and her daughter behind. But, now I realize that this is the way she got Maya home, she sacrificed herself for her child and her family even though that meant living without her. God bless this family!

Agreed.....it took her mom sacrificing her life for them to make changes
@brittanyg25295 ай бұрын
Yes that’s exactly what she did… I think she might have known that she was going to do this before and wanted to see if the judge would allow her to “give her a hug” which in Beata’s mind was saying goodbye… or she just decided that day in court 💔

My heart is absolutely broke for this whole family. What they have been through is immeasurable. No amount of money will be enough or bring her back. Watching them sob made me sob. Those poor kids and what they’ve been through and witnessed. I cannot fathom. Sending them peace, love and healing. So glad justice came down.

I watched the take care of maya on Netflix I can’t stop crying all the way , the family has been through was very traumatic specially on Maya and her brother. Justice served and your mum must be very proud of you Maya . Hat’s off to Dad who never give up and those people who helped this family ❤

Beata, your suffering is not in vain. While I wish you were here to celebrate this victory with your family, I’m happy that they have received some type of closure. May you rest peacefully.

This is so heartbreaking but I’m so happy she prevailed. As a person suffering from CRPS, I’m hoping doctors, nurses and all medical professionals take this case seriously and review their treatment of chronic pain patients as well as those of us with CRPS! I’ve struggled with getting care and she will need all this money for future treatments sadly 😢 as it gets progressively worse.

The first 15 minutes or so of reactions were so intense but then the verdicts from 16:15 onward just wrecked me. This video is hard to watch but it's also incredible. The increasing confirmation of justice kept intensifying more and more as each verdict was read, and with each verdict also came the undeniable power from such a unanimous judgement. Easily one of the most powerful videos I've ever seen in my life. Maya carried herself in such a poised and dignified manner despite the nightmare she and her family suffered through. Each verdict being read aloud just got sweeter and sweeter, like a generous shot of pure undiluted grade-A justice mainlined right to the heartstrings, and while all that money won't bring their mother back, hopefully such a resounding and unequivocal display of justice coupled with the overwhelming solidarity of public support on her side helps her and her brother with the healing process and makes tomorrow and each day after just a bit easier and a bit more hopeful & promising..

My wife and I watched the documentary about this and could not stop crying our eyes out. The depth of the evil done by that hospital and the social workers was unbelievable! As a parent, I am overjoyed to see this young girl finally see true justice. Now! There had better be legal action also taken against each monster who put the family through this!!! 25 years to life. Nothing less!!! A big hug for this family. So happy for them.

I started tearing up when Maya consoled her brother. I don’t have a brother but I’m the youngest of my siblings and it’s comforting knowing that they’re there for you in the time of need. I watched the documentary when it first came out and I prayed that the family get the justice they deserve in honor of the mother. I’m sure she’s proud that they never gave up. Like shown in the documentary, there were other families in the country experiencing this so I hope more families come out and get their justice.
