Well, if you are a first time animator or completely new to Maya it can be a bit scary to get through the User Interface and start to understand how to get the ball rolling so to speak.

If you are stuck trying to find the Create Active Rejet Body and Create Passive Rejet Body also Gravity commands follow these instructions. click the drop-down menu that says modeling and go to customize then go to FX after that find Fields/Solvers and then add Fields/Solvers to FX then go to Fields/Solvers at the top of the default screen layout and then you should find Create Active Rejet Body and Gravity. I hope this helped.

Hi Kaylin, The setup is very basic and you shouldn't have this problem if you have the same settings. A few questions : 1. Do you have approx the same number of dominos ? 2. Is the spacing between the dominos not too big ? 3. Did you use the standard Lambert material ? Please let me know if this helps. Regards, Mike

Hello, I have seen your video and it is great, it helped a lot! However can you explain me how to export that thing? I watched couple of other tutorials but it just doesn't work at all. I have 200 frames and it is bascially a charcater and a camera spinning around it. How can I export it? Also do you have any idea why do I get a blue screen once I try to render an image with mental ray? Thank you so much beforehand!

You reed to batch render you animation ( 200 frames, 1 by one ) and then stitch them together into a video. Check my tutorials on batch rendering

Hi, can you tell me how can I get similar result of Full Crease and Half Crease on Maya 2014? Crease tool is working only on Polygon but not on Sbd. Even if I use crease tool on Poly, they show no effect after render, it just a basic geometry. I use to work on Subd in Maya 2008, but they are gone, so I converted a poly to a subd, but it's not working.

Hi Hasan, I rarely use the Crease tool as I feel it will give me less control. But if you want to keep certain edges sharper after subd I would recommend simply adding edges manually, close to the edge you want to be "sharper" If you want them less sharp, increase the distance of the added edges. This works, also after render. Mike

If they drop through the floor you need to make sure the floor plane is a rigid body as explained in the video

You can't open Maya 2020 files in Maya 2016. It is not backwards compatible

Thanks for the nice tutorial! But I do have a question. It first worked really well. But when I added more domino bricks and made them a active ridgid body and gave them gravity, they still don't particiapte with the rest. The old domino's just fall trough the new ones. I thinks it is because the new ones don't a ridgidsolver and a time1, but I don't know how I can give them these things. I hope you understand my question, and you can help me.

Myrthe Lagrouw Tha active and rigid bodies need to be "paired" So when you create an active ( and with that selected ) a passive they will react together. If you then later on add "actives" they need to have gravity added and need to react with the origianl passive Mike

Mike Hermes I have added gravity, but how do I let the new actives react with the original passive? The new domino blocks do stand on the original passive floor (I don't know if you mean that by reacting with the original passive), but I still don't get it to work.
