One of my favorite pets was a goat named Bob. Until you have one of your own it’s hard to understand how friendly and smart they are. He had a backpack for when we went hiking. It was great and he never complained about how heavy it was. He could carry a lot of stuff.

growing up on a farm i miss having goats. we only had 2 but the one loved playing with our dog and how he played with her was he always head butted her or atleast tried to lol shed run away and he'd chase her. if i knew my goat headbutted kids id be ALWAYS taking it on a hike lol.

god i remember when i first found out that when americans say theyre "going on a hike", they do not mean the type of hike that i as a german think of as a hike lmao. when i was a kid we oftentimes went on holiday in austria, and when my parents say we were going on a hike....we were doing some serious altitude :D before i found that out, i was always so shocked and impressed when americans said they were going hiking, like...without proper hiking shoes?? without a full days worth of food and water as sustenance???? and now its like "oooh okay you mean youre going for a walk"

When i first adopted Giuseppe he was the star of the neighborhood. He only ever head butted two dogs, but he loves children. They were both big playful males that just sniffed his junk a bit too much. The ladies love him…

My first job as a kid was caring for the gardens and goats of a lady, Marjorie Spock a German woman who was the sister to Dr. Spock the famous child doctor. Brilliant woman. I enjoyed caring for the goats. Brownie and bluebird. Marjorie was a published author and translated books from German to English. Brilliant woman she taught me a lot. I enjoyed that job a lot.

Car ride reminded me of when I was a kid and my mom and I would drive our 2-3 goats 6 hours from Pennsylvania to New York a few times a year in the back of our Volvo station wagon. They'd spend a good hour or two standing in the back, showing really impressive balance, but would lay down after a while. They were usually good about not peeing or pooping in the back, but we laid down cardboard just in case. They would go to the bathroom when we took them out at rest stops.
