At the Wildlife Society HQ in Bethesda MD, we took in a sick juvenile great horned owl. It was 2 ft tall, but it had eaten a poisoned rat, and the shelter we took it to couldn't save it.

I got two adult rats from a pet shop last year because I felt so bad seeing them in the littlest cage ever full of dirt... one of them passed away in his sleep a few months ago (of old age, I assume), now I only have one little old baby who spends his days sleeping under my shirt and running around my room like crazy lol I spent hours upon hours researching about rats and gave them the best life I could, full of fresh fruits and veggies and lots of enrichment! I started keeping up with Alveus after I got them and you guys make me want to be a better person every day, I really appreciate your work

1:16:36 okay, I got my first pet as a 20 year old and it was a male roborovski, and he bit so so hard even though he'd climb onto my hand often. After he passed at 2 years old, I got a winter white lmao. She doesn't bite me, but she does not enjoy getting on my hand, she just walks away when my palm is in her enclosure even if there's food. Roborovski's are so cute thoughhh, their little white eyebrows! I'll definitely try to get a pair of guinea pigs or rats next time.... If I don't buy another robo after my winter white passes. I'll need my friends to stop me.

I hate that the blame is pushed onto the cats when it’s a human created issue… luckily the local outdoor cats I am near are terrified of birds and have been TNR’d .

Yo so if you have rats or mice you can get these plug ins that emit a sound that they don't like. My grandmother swears by them.

they should make spaying and neutering animals free...

​@@Eradicationist pet owners shouldn't be breeding, only certified breeders should, so there will still be pets, there would be a lot less strays and animals needing to be resuced if there were only responsible breeders producing these animals
