One more thing....Maybe I'm Amazed is thanking Linda for saving him. It has a much deeper meaning. Paul was distraught after the Beatles broke up. He did not know what to do. He began drinking heavily. Linda made him snap out of it. She, with no musical talent or background, helped him move on. She inspired him and sang with him and pushed him forward. He got his feet back on the ground. She toured colleges with him and pubs and went on stage with him. This song is him thanking her. Whereas My Love is a love song inspired by Linda herself and not as deep. It is still a beautiful song.

Once I accepted that Paul McCartney was not going to marry me (lol), I was thrilled that he ended up with Linda. Theirs was one of the most touching love stories of all time. They were soooo good together and they adored each other. I imagine that moving on after her death was probably the most difficult thing he has ever done. It’s unusual to see such devotion in a “celebrity” couple. That kind of love makes me smile. I love your channel Harri!! Keep em coming!

Linda was a photographer. The line ' 'you pulled me out in time, and hung me on a line' - i.e., the photo being pulled out just in time from the chemicals, and then hung on a line to dry. Saved in time. I don't get people who think Paul isn't a brilliant lyricist. He truly was and is. Very subtle and surprising lyrics.

A few years after Beatles split up Paul formed this band called Wings. He didn't take any success for granted despite beeing the Paul McCartney! They loaded their gear into a van and began driving up north. They stopped by at a university and Paul looked up the Headmaster and introduced himself and said "this is my new band Wings, we'd like to perform here". Needless to say permission to play was granted!

Such a beautiful song, I always love when it comes on the radio and I'm with my wife. Paul was never the same after Linda's death. I remember how bad I felt for him . My wife and I saw Paul in concert in the mid 90's , and it was one of his last stops of the tour, he humbly apologized ahead of time that his voice was feeling the effects. He then went on and energetically ran around for 3 hrs , sang all his hits and , BABY I WAS AMAZED, pun intended. Great show I really felt privlaged to see such an icon. PEACE HIPPIE JOE

Linda probably rescued him from devastation at the time, he wrote that song; that's why he bursts out into screaming. It's a cry for help at the same time as it is a love song. He really suffered from the Beatles-breakup and the loss of his songwriting partnership with John, started to drink, stayed in bed, and stopped washing himself. It's supposed to be the most miserable time of his entire life. She gave him back his self esteem, by encouraging him to stand up again.

Harry: one of your best videos! and I agree with your analogy of the four songs: My love / Let it be y Maybe I'm Amazed / Hey Jude The wonderful thing is that these four emblematic songs, true hymns, were composed in just four years apart, 1968/1972, the period of greatest transformation of Paul McCartney, facing the duel of the dissolution of BEATLES with the unconditional love of the arrival of the love of her life Linda Eastman "Maybe I'm Amazed" is a fantastic song, it is his declaration of gratitude and consecration to the Woman who rescued him from depression McCartney secluded himself with Her and released his first solo album "McCartney" playing absolutely all musical instruments and recording in a home studio And he edited it simultaneously with the release of the latest BEATLES album, and he faced English critics who blamed him for end of BEATLES In "Maybe I'm Amazed", the best song on the album, Paul adds a very powerful and emotional voice, in absolute harmony with his performance on the piano. I compare it to "My love", which is totally soft and sweet, a pure beauty, honey for the ears, it is the man in love who talks about his love and yes, they are similar in style to Hey Jude and Let it be respectively, the first most powerful and the second sweetest, the four hymns (and I think of ABBA's hymns, the songs that are engraved in people's hearts, like Waterloo and Dancing Queen, Fernando and Chiquitita, Thank you for the músic and S.O.S. , and last Mamma Mía with movies)

He wrote this in the wake of the Beatles break-up. He was pretty down, and felt lost. He, Linda and the two little girls went to live in Scotland. Linda was his rock. She stood by him and kept his hope alive when he was unable to. She understood him and treated him like a human being, not a "Beatle". She accepted him unconditionally.

I've always connected more with this one. But both are beautiful. It makes me tear up thinking Linda was only 56 when she passed. She was his "rock", and encouraged him to continue with music after The Beatles split up, cause he was just moping around for a whole year doing nothing

Another way to look at these two songs is that "Maybe I'm Amazed" is Paul's attempt to understand a fairly new, fresh and powerful love while in "My Love" he is expressing how that younger love has evolved and matured but was fresh and powerful.

Paul is the real deal when it comes to family. They took their kids everywhere they travelled. No nannies... when at home, raised them in a 4 bedroom house. He has never lived in a mansion. Those pics of them in the early days in Scotland, they were living in a shack that was on the land he bought to save on taxes. He’s a one man woman too! He’s always been in it for love.

It’s hard to say which of Paul’s many love songs are the best, but “Dear Boy” is one of my all time favorites. It’s a song written to his wife Linda’s ex-husband, wondering how the man didn’t see what a wonderful woman Linda was. The harmonies and layering of lyrics are super lush and beautiful.

For future songs I join three suggestions that you already left in several comments (and are in my Top 10 of McCartney songs): Live and let Die Band on the run Mull of Kintyre for various reasons, the first two are Paul's other immaculate hymns, and the last is of a beauty and sweetness of excellence, as well as being the best-selling song in England of the entire decade of the 70s (as well as "She loves You" it was the best-seller in the entire decade of the 60s) it is a pleasure to see you when you enter the intimacy of these songs full of history and emotion I wait for you in the next evenings God keep blessing you a cordial greeting from my Argentina PS: don't forget ABBA's "Waterloo" (video at Eurovision Song Contest) it is much more than the song itself, it is a founding moment for ABBA and revolutionary for the music and culture of all Europe, in the context of a competition with the most classical songs and performers from Europe You are going to enjoy that exciting iconic and historical landmark! (I know I look pretty pushy and heavy on this, and I apologize for that, but I don't want you to miss it (that video and a memorable live performance from London 1979) I do this only thinking about your knowledge and pleasure, and what you share with your followers from this videos, and I wait to those with all patience and respect for You)

Linda snapped Paul out of a very deep depression. After The Beatles broke up he just drank and wouldn't get out of bed and wouldn't even clean himself up. Finally Linda insisted he get moving. She had a huge struggle on her hands. But, Lady Linda did it. God love her. Wonder if Paul would have quit it all. Can you imagine what we would have missed musically? My Love was a huge song. My favorite line in that song is " And when the cupboards bare I'll still find something there with my love "...…..

Pleeaase react to “Broken Bones and Pocket Change” by St Paul and the Broken Bones. You will LOVE it. This dude’s voice will blow you away! You are one of favorite reactors on KZbin and I really love the energy you bring and the message you spread. I just want to see one of my favorite reactors listen to one of my favorite songs. They aren’t too well known so I know this won’t get upvoted a lot but trust me you will love them. You have to see the official video on KZbin though. The lead singers stage presence and the way he performs is next level. Peace and love brother!

His wife Linda came from a family that owned a business I believe called Eastman Kodak. She took photos all the time. She documented their life! She ended up dying from breast cancer!

Actually, no, that's just a popular misconception, possibly based on the fact she was a photographer. In fact, she wasn't connected in any way with the Eastmans of Eastman-Kodak fame. Her father Leopold Epstein was from a Russian Jewish immigrant family. He later changed his name to Lee Eastman, and was a prominent entertainment/ arts lawyer. Linda's brother John followed the same profession as his father and later became Paul's and Linda's legal advisor.

@@eviekelpie1 Yup, I thought the same until I read or heard somewhere it wasn't true, and fact-checked it, like you... I think somewhere, long ago, someone made the false connection and mentioned it in an article and after that it became a 'thing' everyone thought they knew... :-)

I remember how exciting it was getting this, the first post-Beatles solo album, and knowing that it was a homemade kind of project that Paul did all by himself with Linda on backing vocals. At the time I don't think I'd ever heard a more poignant rock love song than this one.

@@HarriBestReactions Harri..you always say songs and the Beatles songs are tooooo short. Back in the day, songs over 2-1/2 minutes wouldn't get radio play. Of cause later on, the Beatles were the exception. Especially with Hey jude@ 7:11 Keep them coming. ❤👊

Yo Hari. Don't stress it. My point of view, when it comes to comparing songs or different versions of a song, is always - why compare? Why choose when you can have them all? In another comment I mentioned Pentatonix. They did a cover of John Lennon's Imagine which is mind-blowing in its delivery of the message (I think you'd enjoy it) but it doesn't replace or negate the simplicity and beauty of the original. It exists alongside it and like I said, you can have both; the inspirational original and the inspired interpretation. Keep it pushin'.

The best McCartney song (saying a lot) is called Blackbird when he was with the Beatles. I say best because the lyrics are great and the melody is, as usual for Paul, great. The lyrics relate to the civil rights movement and the melody was influenced by Bach (by Paul's admission).
