Paul wrote this beautiful song for his wife, Linda, who sadly died of cancer in 1998. She was the mother of his three children and he also adopted her oldest daughter. They were married for 29 years.

After Lennon stated he was leaving the Beatles in September 1969 (but the group agreed not to announce it yet), McCartney moved up to his farm in Scotland with his new wife Linda and two daughters. Although they went to "get away from it all", once there Paul started hitting the bottle pretty hard and fell into a deep depression about the breakup of the band. After some difficult weeks, Linda managed to help pull him through and eventually McCartney started recording by himself - playing all the instruments - in a barn on their property. Those songs would eventually be assembled into his first solo album "McCartney", which contained this incredible autobiographical gem. As you noticed, you can really hear him showing some very raw emotions as he professes his love and "amazement" about his relationship with Linda.

The music you're listening to is from the Golden Age of modern music, the 60s, 70s & 80s...so there's a lot to be impressed with! Ignore people who are negative about it, you're absolutely feeling the music and it's great! Gorgeous song for Linda, and one of my favorite albums -- IMO his best work post-Beatles. Raw/earthy! The tune "Junk" is especially pretty. Linda sang harmony on a few of the tunes. As a 10 yr old I loved gazing at the sweet family-on-the-farm photos on the album jacket while listening to the tunes. I'm glad you listened to the studio album version and not the live version. Have you watched "The Beatles: Get Back" documentary yet ? It's long, but well worth the watch, especially if you love their last few albums as a group. cheers!

Just remember don't listen to the haters. You are a blank canvas and this is perfect for a reactor. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the music you're listening to. As you go along you will probably know a really good song as opposed to a really bad song. And reacting to a song negatively just shows how real you are. On that note, I really enjoy your reactions.

This album, I love Maybe I'm Amazed, Every Night, Ooh You, That Would Be Something and Junk. For songs released in the 21st century, I'd go with Too Much Rain, That Was Me, Hunt You Down/Naked/C-link, Nothing for Free, or Find My Way with Beck.

McCartney was the first artist that was known behind the scenes as "The Voice". Paul has one of those chameleon voices that is so varied, it is hard to find 2 songs that are similar. Check out MONKBERRY MOON DELIGHT for a gruff, gritty voice, or Silly Little Love Songs for a poppy, bass driven dance tune. Paul gets bored listening to himself, so he branches out as much as his voice can stretch.
@mikefetterman6782 Жыл бұрын
Keep in mind he is also tracking all these instruments himself. He played the drums, guitar, bass, piano, and organ and all the instruments himself on the whole album. His wife helped with some backing vocals. He did the same on McCartney II, and McCartney III. Recorded completely on a 4 track recorder.

A little Linda McCartney trivia - the first song written about her was in 1946 when her father asked his client, Jack Lawrence, to write a song using his 1 year old baby Linda's name. Jack was serving in the military when he wrote this song - he was only using her name as a favor to a friend, not flirting with a 1 yr old LOL - It was later recorded by several big names like Frank Sinatra but I like this version kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmHKimiOqLOjhKs#DoesMyLongPostMakeMeLookOLD Enjoying this channel ❤

Hard to believe this beautiful song was listed to be banned by SJW and US democrats saying it was homophobic/transphobic as it speaks of a hetro man and woman and is therefore not "inclusive". I guess they don't realize their parents were hetro and that's how they came to be. The power of his raw feelings being relayed is awesome and the love should be shared

The following simple or brief history younger listeners/reactors may not know. In order to understand timelines and context, I think it is important for reactors to stop guessing and learn the real history, so they don't make an accidental comment that is totally false, based on rumor or disjointed gossip sourced information. To the best of my knowledge: First This song was NEVER released as a single at first, this is the original 1970 recording on the first McCartney Solo album. A live performance by McCartney's later band Wings, from the live album Wings over America, was released in 1977 from a 1976 tour called "Wings Over America." The original here was released about the same time on the solo "McCartney" album as the Beatles Let It Be album in Spring of 1970. There were group arguments over the release date of this. The Radio stations played this as if it were a single song anyway. The Beatles broke up at this time....his wife Linda quietly sang a few background vocals on this with him, but he did the entire album by himself otherwise, all instruments and voices. This was the first indicator of the super talent he was to be [as if he wasn't already] and not 1/4 of the Beatles, great as they were. He was depressed over the business fights and the break up before the official announcement - John Lennon had already said he was leaving the band in Sept 1969, but for business purposes they kept it quite until April 10, 1970 when Paul announced the Beatles were done [he had enough of perpetuating the myth for business purposes]. It was his wife Linda who pulled him out of the slump and got him going and recording again. Without her, this album that got him started on his solo and Wings band career might not have happened...at least the way it did.
