I see your point. However, we have to remember that Mayberry Man (movie and series) isn't based on the characters of the show. It's based on modern-day characters who fondly love the show and long for its wholesomeness. Stark would be hard-pressed to find tribute artists qualified in the eyes of TAGS fans to play the characters you mentioned in a way that really would be a tribute to them.

I'm disappointed the movie did very little, if any, throwback to RFD and none to the movie 'Return'. Those are canon. Howard Sprague and Goober were the only supporting characters in all three venues, as I recall. Would love for the series to address that!
