True story: My first ever Vigi game, we had 3 vigis and a mayor. All three vigis shot the mayor on the same night because they were being suspicious. The mayor then accused us all of throwing and shrieked at the medium to tell the entire game to report us for gamethrowing. *The mayor had not ever been revealed, and had in fact been pretending to be an NK siding with evils.* It'd be funny if their tantrum didn't actually make me concerned someone would report me.

@@ICNHH It depends on the game mode if you asked me. If it was CAA, Mayors tend to act sus specifically to bait pushes or get people to push out info or even attempt to push them.. Never fully realizing that someone pushing on you as mayor doesn't necessarily have to be evil, but if they get info wrong involving you, is fairly good case for them being fake. Sometimes a match just needs a jester figure standing in the town to promote evils into feeling a bit over-confident Most usually if a Vigi shoots me as mayor when I was purposely being sus, I just chalk it up to being us living up to our destinies as Town of Salem Memes.

I would also add another tidbit of information: As a Vampire,PLEASE never bite a revealed Mayor! There is a very easy way to check if the Mayor was bitten(a.k.a whispers) and they will be instantly lynched. It's just a waste of bite.

I had a dumb jailor in classic which forced me to reveal myself day 2. I did not reveal because bg was not alive and if i revealed (10 seconds before voting ends) i would die the same night without getting any value out of the votes. I told the jailor i would reveal day 3 and then they exed me. (Lookout was dead)

@@Matthew-0619 Actually revealing confirms to the jailor that you aren't evil, which lets him jail another suspicious person on the town, if the jailor calls for you to reveal you have to, there isn't any way to wiggle out of it without getting killed by town.

One game I was Mayor who revealed day 2, but the problem though was that a doctor died night 1. This wasn't a big deal until later when I died as mayor Night 3. We lost as town because town was either being too quiet or they were claiming too late. When Coven won the game, I checked to see if other town protects were on me, and turns out, that Doctor who died night 1 was the only Town Protect lol.

Here's the thing, You already have a target on your back to begin with. Revealing d1 allows the tis to narrow down suspects, gives bg/lo a garanteed town member to protect and you can also lead the town more effectively. (Also gives you the opportunity to hard confirm any transporters if you're jailed).

Revealing day 1 is sometimes good in ranked. Because not only did you confirm one slot. You also force evils to not claim TS or CC a mayor.

it really depends on the mode. in ranked, with jailor meta, there's already a confirmed townie to protect and watch in all/any there might not even be any town protection to go on you if you reveal the first day

funny story, i while past i got pm, in a coven duo game, along with a poisoner, the poisoner hit a secret mayor, who revealed instantly the day after for whatever reason. since the poisoner had died and left the same night, i decided to become a vig/consigliere/doc for town, since fuck it, i didnt care if i won (it was a casual game). turns out pm can actually heal a revealed mayor

YMMV, but Mayor can fake claim as Jailor Day 1 and ask for TP/LO and get protection from Jailor N1 if Jailor decides to jail them. I have used this strategy and it usually works in Ranked or some other game with a role list.

I know I'm late, but I'd like to say something a little about the more tryhard side of ToS. In set lists with a confirmed jailor, it is common for mayors to reveal on day one, and the jailor jails them n1. Of course, this is most effective in lists where there is a guaranteed role that could reasonably want to be on both the jailor or mayor, such as a guaranteed LO or Crus. However, doing this in Ranked is still effective as it allows you to claim the TS instantly and lead the town where the jailor won't. Of course, being hidden and even fake claiming is perfectly fine if you know how to keep sus off of yourself.

I actually really hate being mayor since i have no idea when to reveal because it's such a risky move and mostly because this is role where many people can reported for game throwing and it's very complex like: "When should i reveal?" and "Please don't get killed or town will think I'm stupid"

I know it's late but one of the things about mayor is that you pretty much force **every** town protect claim that's not doctor to sit on you. You also partially force all lookouts on you for atleast one night (night you reveal). Don't be too afraid about revealing to shove a massive town advantage and pretty much get evils lynched. Also, make sure you put in your will everyone who claims a protective roll or lookout. If you die, they're all suspicious or instantly lynched due to their failure to protect you... meaning you could kill 2 evils for your life. That's great value since usually town outnumbers evil.

One time I didn't reveal for the whole game, died night 7 or 8, and got blasted by the dead chat, but the thing is that from what I remember, none of the reasons to reveal happened, I was so embarrassed that I left, even though the game was about to end, I DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE MERIT POINTS, I WAS SO EMBARRASSED THAT I DIDN'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT SEEING WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN and the merit points.

If there was no reason to reveal, then just don't. If your in a situation where there is an evil majority, but you are the ONLY townie, then its better to wait to see if you'll get into a 1v1 scenario. And if town has majority already, then only reveal if it outs another evil, as town stands to gain nothing but know that you are good in a town majority game.

As Mayor I would lay low and stay quiet until I have to reveal. Once I do Start typing like a madman and refuse to stfu in chat and ask everyone to post wills daily in full publicly and ask visited people if they can confirm if the role message gives a message like esc or transporter. Or in Ranked/Ranked Style role lists hit it and Yolo Reveal D1(So ti’s know it’s a waste of a night to check me as the game will say I’m mayor next to my name and just have all townie roles make more informed decisions in night than usual for obvious mayor related reasons) and Ask for TP/LO and be an aggressive and pushy POS in the chat. The plan is to give town from N1 more informed choices on wtf they do and make the confirmed TS slot impossible to counterclaim so evils can’t try to steal my claim space Generally as Mayor Once the reveal is used abuse the extra votes gained and your hard confirmed by the game itself(When you reveal as Mayor the Game with your role slider on living townies for mobile writes Mayor Below your name and on PC puts the usual role display of Mayor next to your name. This is what I mean as you hard confirmed by the game as the game itself is telling every player what role you are.)status to get claims and allow town to make a more informed choice otherwise.

Not bad tips but the way I play mayor probably goes against them, I always reveal D1 even in all any because it just has a lot of benefits, not revealing immediately can get you killed and with the new ret there's no going back, even if there's no doctor or tp actually in the game evils will think twice to actually yolo hit you unless they're really ballsy and got rewarded for it. I win most of my mayor games due to revealing earlier, I can get a lot of claims out asap and start scumreading pretty much immediately because there's a lot of cases where town just sits quiet and doesn't do anything especially in all any

There are advantages early and late. You really should establish what the benefits would be at any point should you reveal. Be a shame to reveal day 1 and either falses use it for flimsy association before night or real town don't use it enough to secure several town role clears.
