This brings a smile to my face, I grew up here. To see the legendary shop still standing is beautiful ❤️. My primary school, park, my flats. Bottom bridge, top bridge. Shame about the adventure playground and the youth club closed. They were open everyday for me. Wow so nice to see the home town

Lol when I was a teen I remember during the summer heading to Peckham on the 343 coming from New Cross with some friends then the bus broke down on Turnham Road. Like 30 youths on bikes came from nowhere surrounding the bus with bad intentions 😅 I was so happy to notice one of them was a close friend of mine from my secondary school before he got kicked out 😅. It was a shaky experience that could’ve went left even the bus driver was scared. The area seems a lot more quieter now I’m glad and assuming everyone has grown up.

When the GLC run London London was different for the kids and probably different for adults, the greater London council run London and funded everything and they funded all the adventure playground and I'm 46 and everywhere had an adventure playground open after school from 4-8pm Monday to Friday and From early in the morning on Saturday and Sunday till 4/5 And we use to go on days out during the summer holidays and all the other holidays Docklands farm, different swimming pools , ice skating Trips to other adventure playground and I remember going on a camping holiday during one school holiday and every summer we went to Margate for a day out and the playground done big bonfire and fireworks display every November and we done things that health and safety wouldn't allow now but none of us died and then I think the GLC was on the verge of bankruptcy and thatcher sold everything and made everything private and during the GLC we had the Easter parade in Battersea park free , all the chocolate company floats giving out eggs to kids and many events in the park and capital FM fun days use to be free under the GLC, and I was only a kid but every manor that had a park would have fetes and music festival free , Brockwell pk Burgess park , Peckham pk And then everything changed. I grew up in Somerville
