no zucker is actually rather common because if you go on an NMT hunt there are 35 villager species and a 1/35 chance on landing on octopus if you do there is a 1/3 chance of getting zucker and 1/35 x 1/3 is 1/105 so zucker has a probability of 1/105 vs say raymond who also does not have an amibo card. there are 23 cat villagers in the game and 1/35 chance at finding a cat if you do then there is a 1/23 chance that it is raymond 1/35 x 1/23 equals 1/805 that is why even villagers we think are fairly common actually have a lower probability then we think

@@spacedoutgrace5308 actually i am wrong because 3/397 is about 1/132 x 1/3 which equals about 1 /397 the total amount of villagers in the game so zucker is as common as an other villager vs raymond who has 1/17 x 23 chance which is actually less than zucker. that is however assuming the game is coded not to chose a species randomly and then pick a random villager of that species but it is coded to choose the species based on which species has more. Also I am not a dataminer so i dont know the details

You are conflating “rare” with “popular”. The game rolls for species first (35 species) and then villager out of that species. Theres only 3 octopus while there are 23 cats so Zucker is actually about 8x more common than Raymond. Thats why the octopus sell for so little cause they are so common

If you get the octopi, there is a 1/3 chance for Zucker out of them all, however if you get the cats there is only a 1/23 chance for Raymond (or the cat you want). If you combine this information with the fact that Raymond and the other new villagers do not have an amiibo card, you will know that Raymond is a lot rarer than a villager like Zucker.

I found Raymond in the campsite once! So what happened was I was sleeping and it was like 8:45 in the morning and then my older sister woke me up and said "RAYMOND IS IN THE CAMPSITE WAKE UPPP!" I thought she was lying because she knew Raymond was one of my favorite villagers, but when I went on the switch, she actually WASN'T LYING! RAYMOND WAS ACTUALLY THERE! So after like ten MILLION games we FINALLY won! So he went to Tom Nook, and we had a full island atm, so we would need to trade him for a villager that wanted to move out. This was definetly my lucky day because the villager who was deciding to move was one we hated SO MUCH!😭 (it was Rizzo, if you haven't heard of him) So after Rizzo moved out, we HAD to fast forward in time because we couldn't wait for Raymond to move in. Then FINALLY, THE NEXT DAY IN THE NEWS, IT SAID THAT RAYMOND WAS ON OUR ISLAND!!!!!!!

Liz D can you please mention a source because I really want to find out. Also I don’t think there are “rare villagers” but rare species of villagers as there are more of a certain type of species than others. But generally you have a 1 in 400 chance of getting a certain villager (or however many villagers there are in the game). unless there is concrete proof claiming otherwise.

True Trickster its not that easy, i saw the explanation on reddit by a dataminer, i don’t know if i can find it again but it explained that the number of villager per species has an influencer over spawn rate, the more there is in one species, the more is hard to get. For exemple, the octopuses have the higher spawn rate because there is only three of them. I think its true because with maybe 700 nook miles tickets i have seen maybe 4 times marina, 5 or 6 time zucker and 4 time the other octopus, and maybe more, I don’t remember and i still didn’t see at least 70 villagers so it’s clearly not 1/400 :) Sorry if i’ve made grammatical mistakes, i’m not a native english speaker.

@@satacombre Just because you have 400+ tickets, doesnt mean you are gonna see every villager at least once. That's not how chance works. Say if you see Marina, one of the 393 villagers, your chances don't lower to 1/392. It stays at 1/393. There is no reason why it would lower. Since marina is still in the pool of 393, you will always have a chance of seeing her again. And about the species, we are talking about finding specific villagers, not groups of villagers. If you are looking for any cat villager, your chances are good because there are more cats in the game than most other species, but if you are looking for a SPECIFIC cat, then your chances are 1/393. If you are looking for any octopi, then your chances are low since theres only three, but if you are looking for a specific octopi then its 1/393. Unless there is any concrete evidence showing a coded villager spawn rate, there is no such thing as a rare villager. All are equal. And if you are looking for a specific one, you just have to be lucky and roll the one 1/393 you want.

Ok but as soon as apple, gayle, piper, gala, maple, Rosie, tipper, and stitches popped up I was excited because they’re adorable…funny story actually, I used to have stitches and he was super cute, but kinda scared my baby sister, so I sadly had to get rid of him but my current villagers are: Molly, Judy, Tia, Shari, Melba, punchy, angus, midge, cousteau, and chops…currently trying to get rid of chops, cousteau, angus and punchy, and get Gayle, Maple, fauna, and Diana.
