Some important points
**YOU NEED TO PUT MOTOR CASING BACK SAME AS YOU FOUND IT (careful for reverse polarity) - CASING ENDS ARE ALSO NOT SYMMETRICAL SO MARK EVERYTHING WITH A PENCIL and PHOTOS when you take it apart**
1) open the black box slowly prising it open with your hands and a screwdriver
2) The casing of the motor is NOT symmetric - be very careful you put it back the same way how you open it (takes photos of each step)
3) Once opened you need to clean motor with high pressure air pump to blow away carbon deposits - then clean armature with Acetone to degrease it. Clean the commutator with acetone also to degrease it
4) Open carbon spring slowly with wooden tooth pick
5) solder the copper wires together of the old and new carbon brushes - make sure the wire can move up and down the brush casing as the carbon erodes ( pushed in by spring)
5) put in the commutator back in position then put the springs on again ( only after commutator is firmly back in position and aligned with brushes) - THE BRUSHES NEED TO TOUCH THE COMMUTATOR - NO CONTACT = NO STRENGTH = it will work but very little power
6) Make sure the motor casing screw holes are aligned before you put screw back in - much easier
7) that washer in the bearing head (beside brushes ) is asymmetric for a reason (dont lose it)
8) the carbon brushes will touch the commutator - they will wear and the carbon will deposit on your motor again - I use my robot 2 times a week for 7 months of the year - this robot was bought in the end of 2019 so i got 3 full seasons out of it
9) Clean the motor casing inside with acetone
10) grease the bearings (dont go mad with grease as it gets everywhere when you put it back in casing)
11) when you put motor back in Black Box - the impeller shaft casing is NOT symmetric - you need to put it back in so that slide in safety clip properly
9) put the lid on the black box together upside down - use silicon grease around the edges - make sure wires are not caught - dont skimp on grease here - water in the black box = game over
11) the impeller now should turn with your finger - dont over tighten the impellor screw
12) some guys doing these videos are using power tools for the screws - madness as the plastic itself is very brittle and you can easily ruin the screw heads - use your hands and a screw driver

Thanks!!...this worked great....fixed me right up...and my soldering is worse than yours...LOL....definitely shorten the brushes or the spring on the back is too far out and when you put the motor back together the spring gets pushed off the back....other than that....a giant help!!

Please note im not online a lot so I cannot respond to questions - I misspoke during video = the dealers wont replace motor - no specific spare parts replacement and they will only replace the black box (containing motors) which costs somewhere between 500 to 700 euro It cleaned the pool perfectly first time - happy days

Thanks for the video, I replaced the brushes as well, the motor seems working because when I start the robot, during self-test, the impeller rotates and pushes water from the too without issue. But the robot only runs for 5 minute and shutdown completely. In the 5 minutes of running the impeller does not run, the robot just move around in the pool. When the robot stops, the button on the power supply turns red. Do you have any idea what the issue might be? Thanks a lot

Did you check the cable for cracks ? Maybe the electronic circuit board got water inside? I’m really not sure

How’s your robot running after a year of replacing the brushes? I have the exact same issue as yours. Worn out brushes with carbon inside casing. I’m gonna order new brushes for mine and wanted to know if it’s worth it.

@@hovansh2373 - it’s still going strong- I’m using it 3 times a week from start of April- no issues at all

How did you get the screws back in? With the magnets inside, they never seem to line up with the screw holes because the magnets pull the screws out of alignment.

@@rycrober took me a good half hour to get them back in - just keep forcing with screw driver

what I did was to first align one screw give it one or two turns , then have to rotate the cap a little bit to align the other screw because it was attracted by one of the magnet.
