when replacing the TCM, will any TCM from a car with the same transmission work? Or do the years need to match, will it need to be programmed?

I don’t think so, as far as programming goes, disconnect the battery and it takes up to 100 miles to learn

My mother purchased a used Mazda from the Roger Beasley Dealership in Central Austin on 10/17/19. They sold her a 2007 Mazada 3 with a faulty or failing TCM(which they just replaced for FREE today 11/19/2019).This is after I drove the car for roughly three weeks with gear shift issues. At this point, the vehicle is driving fine. My question is (I am being proactive) do you know if the hard shifting on the car causes any other issues?

Hey Raul, Thanks for the video. It was concise and helpful. Just curious, what other upgrades you had to do in your Mazda 5 2009 ?? ... I also have one with 115K that bought new and this TCM was the first real problem I had. Now some general comments of the TCM problem - from my working experience with similar ones. It seems that a solder is failing or specific discrete component in the board - my guess us the soldering because the problem survived multiple revisions of this part. It is also seems to temperature related for sure. To me the strongest evidence for that is that many people report changing their transmission fluids and the problems 'disappears' for few days probably because their systems run a bit cooler. I also did some quick temperature measurements. On top of the transmission > 85 C seem possible during heavy loads. On the alternate place I got 51 C. This with 29 C outside.

When replacing an old TCM with a new/used TCM, does the part numbers have to match?
@car-u-fix-it80705 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily...as new TCM's are updated so new TCM's will have a different letter at end or begining....my new tcm did not match in numbers but I input my year and make and model on website I ordered it from...and was sent the latest tcm.....double check as not all TCM's are made equal.
