How to enter maintenance mode in order to disengage the e-brake to change your brakes and compress your caliper pisto

Attention! I made a mistake at 0:40 where i said to press on the gas pedal by accident. What i mean to say, is to press on the brake pedal all the way down till it stops. This process involves the brake pedal before and after service mode !

I love my Mazda 3 turbo but one I thing I hate is the awful parking brake , the cable parking brake worked so good for so many decades now they came out with this garbage parking brake

It is not too difficult to do this procedure. It is hard to move away from the ol’ reliable. But this is what all cars will be equipped with as technology changes. If you need any help. Please let me know.

@@TheDNM77 thanks , in my mind I see no need to use the parking brake every single time I park in a flat surface in my garage 😂, I assume the cost of changing these brakes will be very high and since they get used a lot , it will go bad fast

@@hittrewweuy7595 parking brakes dont cause much wear and tear on the pads or discs themselves. Brake changes are always costly nonetheless. Thats why i created this video to help people change their own brakes with electronic parking brake systems. I don’t understand why the e brakes always engage either 😅. But its a safety feature just incase something happens lol.

What if I did not put in maintenance mode and changed the rear brakes ? No issues have came up on the dash and it brakes just fine

Thanks soo much. After putting the vehicle into service mode, I unable to take it out of service mode. When I drive the vehicle dash board says parking brake applied and when I try to use the electronics parking brake it reads "switch operation not accepted". Sent it to the dealer but they are unable to solve the problem. I am from Ghana.

I turned my maintenance mode on to replace my rear pads and rotors but accidentally turned it back on while disassembled. The caliper spit out the piston on the driver side. I also had compressed the piston using a regular tool instead of the suggested one, so you know if I’ll need to buy a whole caliper or if buying a piston + caliper repair kit will do? Trying to save on costs as much as possible. Rockauto currently does not have a caliper for 2021 mazda 3

If you can get a mobile mechanic. I think it will be cheaper and safer to get it back up to speed.

do i need to leave the car on auxillary mode to stay in maintenence mode when I work on the brakes? or can i shut it off?

I personally put my car into service mode and shut off my car right after, dont forget to lock your wheels at the rear if you wish to jack up the front end to start with the front brakes. Make sure to use wheel blocks made for holding a car. Or you can just jack up 1 corner at a time and change 1 brake at a time while still blocking wheels with a wood block, but only in this scenario.

Mine will not come out of maintenance mode, followed the instructions and the brake wound off fine, will not wind back on, brake caution is flashing all the time

Try to do this process once again. Press on the gas pedal all the way down till you cannot press any further. Now while simultaneously pressing the pedal downwards. You must lift the e brake button, do not press it down. Now while you press on the gas pedal + lift the e-brake button, you can press the start button 3 times. If this does not work, visit your local garage or dealership.

Press down on the brake pedal all the way down till it cant go further down. Then lift the e-brake button (dont press it downwards) and while holding the button upwards push the start button 3 times. I just did it on my car it works fine. I have a 2019 hatch.

@@TheDNM77 oh, OK I see now it actually worked with mine but you accidentally said “gas pedal” instead of saying the “brake pedal” that was why it wasn’t working when I was actually getting the rear brakes (maintenance) done on my Mazda 3 sedan.

Then you need to lift the e brake button, dont press it down, you need to lift it. While you forcefully press down the brake pedal + lift the e brake button. You press start 3 times

Don’t push on the brake! It will cause the car to turn on when performing your process.
