Found this video very helpful. I've just bought a Mazda 6 ,2.2 with a blown turbo and I needed to keep costs down so I also bought a new turbo cartridge from London turbos and did all the work myself. The only problem I come across was after fitting everything back together and taking care to line up everything as it was I got limp mode and it was due to the vain position sensor reading voltage high. The reason was the actuator arm was around 1mm off and the sensor did not like it so rather than taking the turbo off again and adjusting the arm I put a thin layer of card between the sensor and actuator and everything is good. Car is driving fine

It was to awkward to try and video so I didn’t, the job wasn’t to bad to do just abit of a puzzle to remove from top of engine due to space. I’ve since had to replace my steering rack which involved dropping the subframe and after doing that job if I was to do turbo again I would probably remove subframe and take turbo from the bottom as it gives you so much room. Subframes is bulky but if you have someone to help you and some decent tools the subframe can be removed in less than 2 hours.

How is this new turbo cartridge holding up. I need a new turbo and looking at changing the cartridge myself, I've already got everything off ready to go

Still have the car and had no problems with turbo at all. Works perfectly. I would advise that you take extra effort to mark each piece of the turbo assembly before you separate it. Scribe the metal so you can align the parts back up exactly otherwise bolts do not align up properly with manifold pipes and you have to keep taking off and re adjusting which is a pain. Alternatively you can leave the bolts that clamp the cartridge in slightly loose so that you can rotate it when it’s bolted in but harder to nip the bolts back up again. Goodluck

@@repairrestorefixer1242 when rebuilding the turbo I must of been 1mm out and the actuator sensor did not like it so I made a gasket from a thin bit of card and everything is fine. No way was I going to remove the turbo just to adjust the actuator arm 1mm
