2005 Mazda6. Your video was perfect. 75 minutes start to finish (including 15 minutes to pick kids up from school). Thanks man!

At first I was like... "What a load of b.s!" So I went ahead and followed you video, and wow! It really isn't that difficult. Took me 45 minutes as it was my first try... But you video made my life so much easier. THANK YOU!

Having just done this few times, small time saver for those just removing the headlights - no need to remove 8 bottom screws that hold the splash guards, they are elastic so once you remove all other bolts and clips you can just put the bumper down on the ground and they will bend without damage and you'll still have full access to the bottom headlight bolts. Thanks for the video, still super useful 11 years later.

Excellent instructions. Just what I needed when I needed it. Between this and the headlight removal instruction, saved $180 + parts cost, my wallet and I thank you!

Nice! Thanks for taking the time! Fyi,for those watching, if you break the plastic body clips, you can get them at autozone etc. You don't need to get OEM, they'll have the Help! brand or Dorman or something like it.

Oh yeah, A dealer wanted at a minimum $500 to do this. Up to $1700 depending on the bulbs. (Changed the headlight assembly) Saved a ton of money and learned something!

thanks man. used your bumper and headlight video for my first Mazda 6 bulb change. what a great design. lol. thank God for KZbin.
@ericlewandowskivlogs8 жыл бұрын
also, this saved me huge. paid $30 for my bulbs on Amazon, and 3 hours of labor in my driveway. thanks again.
@mrau92me6 жыл бұрын
It's not really necessary to take the bumper off to change the bulbs. A mirror helps you see how the flexible metal clip holds the bulb in there. Just flex and unhook it from the back of the bulb. IIRC, leave the electrical connector attached to the bulb until you get the bulb out of the headlight housing. That way, if you lose your grip on the bulb, the attached wire won't let it get lost inside the headlight. Some long pliers with a bend in them may help when installing the new bulb, but I was able to get my hand in there to do it.

Excellent clip. Thanks for saving the little bloke like me, from being ripped off. Easy when you know how, not worth $100 per hour labor, because you don't know how. Thumbs up to you, and thumbs up for KZbin!!

Great video. My Father in Law has a Mazda 6 and I have to change the headlight bulbs and possibly one of the connectors. This video and the one for the headlight removal were just what I needed. Thanks a lot.

Wish I still had jack stands, looks like they would have made the job easier. I didn't jack up the car so I had to lie on the ground and slither around to get to all of the bumper cover. That was yesterday. Today my body feels like yesterday was quite the workout. Thank you for the instructions. Not only did I hopefully save money, but I proved to myself I could complete something that seemed impossible previously.
@johnmeadows75049 жыл бұрын
Very informative. Thanks for this. I had to replace the headlight assembly. This video was very valuable. It should be noted that those clips that hold the plastic parts to the body are crap and get very brittle. I'm going to have to replace them as several broke. They weren't all screw type either. I was surprised when a large chunk of shaped foam fell out. (Goes on the front of the frame just behind the bumper...) Thanks again.

The grills are held on by several tabs that you have to slide off from the inside of the bumper. With the lower grill, you take off those tabs, and then push the grill inward. The upper grill, you have to take off the tabs and also the mounting clips and screws on top. Obviously its easier to do all this with the bumper off.

Great video, thanks a lot. I'm unable to unscrew the two screws at 2:51, the thing that holds the screws on the other side of the bumper is twisting along, any advice?
@happywrenching2 жыл бұрын
Hate when that happens. Any way you can slide a pair of pliers to hold it from the other side? If not, and if it was me, I would take a dremel (or a regular grinder) with a metal cutting disc and cut the bolt head off.
@rogerr44692 жыл бұрын
@@happywrenching Thank you for your feedback. I tried to hold it with a 10 mm wrench because I couldn't fit pair of pliers behind the plastic cover, but to no avail. Next week I'll give it another go and perhaps I just cut those bolt heads off like you're suggesting (its both of them them won't come off), thanks again I appreciate it.

Bro u just saved my ass. I need to replace my headlights on my 2006 Mazda 6. Any suggestions on good after market headlight kits? The dealer wants over 600 for the set. Found some other ones between 400 and 500. Just seems like I can find a good pair for cheaper for a 2006 car

Hey guys I parked our 2017 Mazda 6 up against a cement chock blocks are held in place by the blocks in place by a steel drive pin well one must have been sticking out and it bent the front lower bumper/valance so what I did I got a heat gun to heated up the plastic bumper then I squeezed it back in place well it turned out ok except for the black strip on it so I removed the skid plate and heated the plastic up again then I stuck a spark plug socket to get the factory form so it came out perfect just sharing oh use cold water to get the plastic hard again quicker.
@guyb66652 жыл бұрын
I destroyed the plastic clips that attach the bumper at the top centre. The plastic was too malleable and just twisted with the screwdriver. Ended up prying the top off, and pushing the remnants through with the screwdriver. Do you know if you can buy replacements? I need this video for front turn signal bulb replacement. Not very user friendly by Mazda to have to take the entire bumper off the get at the lights.

@WLChronicles11 жыл бұрын
I assume it's pretty straightforward. I looked under and saw some visible bolts. Any suggestions in fixing rust? I am planning on sanding, then applying fiberglass putty, then sanding, then paint.

I’m having an issue with the 2 metal screws on top next to plastic screws! They are all rusty and don’t want to move! Any idea on how I can remove them without ruining anything?
@tigertimma2 жыл бұрын
In case this helps anyone else, I had the same issue. I eventually got them to move but the nuts that hold them on were just spinning with the screws. I guess the nuts are supposed to be captive but they broke free. If you can get a socket on the underside nut, it's a 10mm. But assuming it's rusted on I used an 8mm drill bit to drill the head off the screw, then with the bumper removed I could use some grips and a 10mm socket to remove what remained of the screw. Make sure to douse the screw with some water while drilling to avoid melting the plastic. To replace you need M6 flange bolts/screws with a 20mm head. I couldn't find bolts with a head that large so I got some 20mm washers to go with them.
@artistman756 жыл бұрын
I had an issue with one of the screws (next to the plastic clip) on the grill, where the bolt was spinning and I could not get the bolt out. A wrench wouldn't fit and I tried to putting a screwdriver in there to stop it from spinning with not success. The only solution I thought of was to grind down a old wrench so it would fit in the slot. Do you have a better option?

Google clipsandfasteners - they have a website that has all kinds of clips. It's like 6 bucks for a pack of 15. As for the screws, I would try your local hardware store - Home Depot, Lowes, etc. They should have something that fits.
