Have watched most if not all your videos. They have been so helpful. In this country (South Africa) it is extremely difficult to find reputable mechanics/technicians to work on these cars apart from the agents. Am busy changing the coolant plastic bypass pipe to a Mazda recommended metal one. WTF., one has to remove the intake manifold to do the job. 🤬
@kennedysgarage3281
@kennedysgarage3281 7 ай бұрын
That is correct, intake manifold removal is the only way to do it. They do leak quite often but mostly on the automatic transmission models. It is slightly different. I’m glad you like my videos and thank you so much for watching 🙏🙏

So interesting Peter and the more of your videos I watch on the Mazda 2.2 the more interesting this engine becomes…and as you demonstrate time and time again a logical approach to the problem yields a positive diagnosis…rather than the change this, that and the other part/sensor. Great videos..you are helping me loads…waiting for local Mazda parts to open to pick up the new injector seals and oil sump filter (which seemed ok - so this is a preventative maintenance) Next for me to tackle is the blocked DPF… Keep the videos coming.. 👍🏻

Great video as always Peter. I spoke to a local mechanic who advised me to get a carbon clean using a hydrogen generator, I was sceptical as I didn't see how this would help desolve the carbon in the inlet manafold, but went ahead with it anyway, needless to say it was just the same after the carbon clean. The only real solution I found is to remove the inlet manafold and clean it, and the ports in the head. I have not checked the cam lobes for wear. Was getting the Scbs error as well and after that the autobox would downshift with a big bang and only go as high as 3rd.

I'm now developing an anxiety about exhaust camshafts lol. I want to check mine, do the injector washers need to be replaced every time the injectors are lifted or only if there is leaking evident? Thank you for these videos and your positive attitude, they 'reduce the size of the monster under the bed'.

😂😂😂 Replacing the camshaft is a little daunting but very doable. I replace the injector washers every time I remove the injectors. They come in a set of 5 washers and are very inexpensive. But can save a lot of heartache if done early. I’m glad you like some of my videos , cheers mate 😉🙏🙏🙏

Peter, Please read this, I found your video very relevant and satisfactory! I've the mazda 6 2.2 diesel bought being Japanese and cool shape, drove about 15K and it's 129K now but all a sudden this traction control light followed by engine check light; P0101 code; reset by many mechanics then did clean whole of intake manifold including EGR & Throttle Body spent £300 (Mazda was asking £1000 for it) on this job.... Changes the MAF sensor also, Fault still there doesn't go away, it drives normal all this time, my question is as this job to fix gonna cost even more and more, how about keep driving and ignore the light... If so what harm can it do?, though the mechanics here says it's fine to drive. Awaits Your reply.

No. You have 2 separate issues. I would think it could be a faulty/bad injector. I have seen this quite a few times recently 🤔 Any thing else that I could suggest would affect all 4 cylinders other than engine internals (intake/ exhaust valves or piston rings) it could be a good idea to do a relative compression test before removing the injectors, just because it is very easy. Hopefully this helps Ian 🤞

@@kennedysgarage3281 Thanks, it seems strange why it only does it at around 1700 rpm, wouldn't a faulty injector show up on live diagnostics I have a Thinkcar diagnostic reader. Might see if I can monitor the injectors and maybe some injector cleaner.
@kennedysgarage3281
@kennedysgarage3281 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ian-kw3iz the electrical side of the injector can be monitored by engine ecu & then you can see that information via scantool. The only way of monitoring flow is via crank position sensor, but it might not be fine tuned enough to see a slight misfire. Now this is only just my thoughts & I could very well be wrong 🤔

hi, I have a mazda 6 2.2 diesel from 2015 which when the coolant temperature reaches 70 degrees celsius gives me error P0488, do you have any idea what it could be
@kennedysgarage3281
@kennedysgarage3281 Жыл бұрын
P0488 is for EGR throttle range / performance, the obvious answer would be most likely the throttle body is very blocked up with carbon limiting it’s range of movement 🤔 I would suggest removing the intake manifold and doing a carbon clean 🤞🤞

@@kennedysgarage3281 hi, I also cleaned the egr valve and the throttle, I recalibrated the egr valve, I can't figure out what it could be, this happens when the antifreeze temperature reaches 70 degrees, then the malfunction starts and the car grinds very loudly when changing gears, and on the scanner it gives me the code P0488 and U0401

yes, I took off the intake manifold, egr valve, throttle valve, I cleaned it and after about 2 weeks this error appeared, I was thinking about the solenoid from the egr valve cooler bypass, I'm still going to dismantle that solenoid to see what resistance it has because it doesn't I'm sure if it works as it should because when I have an error on the board when I try to test the egr cooler bypass valve it tells me on the tester (test aborted not supported)

Peter thanks for all the info. Sorry if I didn't catch it but what are the reasons the cam shafts fail?
@kennedysgarage3281
@kennedysgarage3281 2 жыл бұрын
Carbon builds up in the crankcase due to injector sealing washers falling. This carbon then blocks the oil strainer & a little steel pipe that sprays oil down onto the exhaust camshaft. If this little pipe gets blocked it causes the camshaft & followers to wear. Hopefully that makes sense 😉😉
