Correction: in the video, I've said the CX-30 Touring has cloth seats. In fact, it has a black leather interior paired with the same brown dash/door trim seen on the CX-30 Astina tested. The Pure and Evolve grades have black cloth seats with blue dash/door trim. -Tom

Such a gorgeous car. I wanted one but no AWD or 2.5 motor in the cloth seat versions. The reason I bought a diesel CX-5 in Touring. Not cloth seats but also not dead animal skin which I couldn't bear to sit on. Some of my best friends have been cows. I look forward to the cloth seat 2.5 turbo (or diesel) AWD version, hopefully before my warranty on the CX-5 runs out so I can part ex :-)

So any news on a Mazda CX-5 facelift? I’ve always found it odd that the first car with the new design language never seems to get a tweak that bring it back with the rest of the family design aesthetic. I’m talking about the front clip. It’s funny that the old mazda 2 gets a new front clip and has that signature metal accent that wraps around the front that looks great and seamless while the CX-5 just stops. Let’s hope this year, as the 2, 3, 6 all have this.
@chasingcars4 жыл бұрын
No news at all yet but it would really surprise me if we didn’t see it before the end of 2020. The Tiguan will be receiving a lift this year, and the ascendant RAV4 needs to be targeted too. Lots of motivation for Mazda.

Thanks, was waiting and curious about the delay. Best review from Aus, seen them all 😉🤫😊 Keep up the good work. Totally agree with you that this chassis needs the 2.5 turbo petrol or 2.2 turbodiesel. AWD and mild-hybrid system too, if it does not already (in your country). Goldilocks B/C-segment and above Mazda's, are better buys for those who do long distance trips a bit more often, so that's how I think. Of course you could also get a small city car like the 2 or CX-3 and be happy. On the lack of wireless phone charging, I have banned any sort of phone charging in our family cars (especially the smaller ones) for many good reasons. I have several quick charge powerbanks, some in my laptop bag and more in my travel bag. My only big criticism about this car that I can't get pass, is all that black cladding on the sides. We only get brighter colour cars, and prefer brighter reds or blues, so those plastics stand out more. It's fine on the CX-5, but that car is too big for who us (our next one & the ladies driving this car primarily in my house).

@@gogeorgia707 The pricing and maintenance cost for a Lexus (I am on my second one) is quite a lot higher though. The UX is considered an entry level model (for Lexus), but not the Mazda3 or CX-30. I see the 2.0-litre top spec CX-30, as a good vfm 'luxurious' offering for the price. It even has enough power for the majority of congested city dwellers - I'm thinking globally here, and places where Mazdas sell well. The 2.5-lite would be more for enthusiast, who would also consider Euro rivals of this size. This is going be harder unless you understand all the engineering and work that Mazda have put into this next-gen direction of their 3 and CX-30. While the interiors from some of these more powerful engine Euros (and even Lexus) could seem better, I would also look at: 1) all the options that come standard in a Mazda, vs how much you have to add-on for those in the others. 2) long-term servicing costs and reliability issues. Of course please test the rivals in your shortlist back to back, preferably on the same day. Consider the (engineering) details & the practical details, not just the brand snobbery & style.

Depends which part of the world you live, and if you are using it mainly as a city car or not, and how many you usually carry. CX-5 is a good car, but (personal preferences) I would prefer a D-segement sedan, a CX-8 (with second row captain chairs), a Alphard or even a good 4x4 SUV or pickup with rear multi-link suspension, for my long distance trips.
We’ve just bought a Mazda 3 end of last year because of all the features and decent boot size. Cx5 was far too much for us as a family of 3 and cost is a lot more. The Mazda cx30 appeals to me because it’s like the 3 but AWD SUV. Driving my 3 is like driving a sports car and with the roads we have and still helping a child into a child seat. Our next upgrade of my husbands Nissan Micra will be this model I think.
