Christian Morgan Agreed. I took this vehicle for a test drive and I figured it out immediately. Mazda knows drivers need to focus on driving and cut down on distractions. But then Doug says a lot of things that don’t make sense. You get used to it. Also, there is enough room in the rear seat for most people. Dougs measurement is having a 6’3” person in the front and a 6’3” person directly behind. Not typical for most users so not a good reference unless you are a family of Dougs.

only agree that mazda's interior designs are more attractive than others, but the built quality of their vehicles are in par or even below mitsibushi or nissan if you get a good one out of a good batch, otherwise premature failures occurred in less than 2, 5 & 7 years of owning a mazda: engine mount leaking, transmission control module & speed control module failures, all sorts of electrical issues shut that a vehicle shut off ramdonly & power steering was disabled, & frequent burnt out of light bulbs in the glovebox or in the interiors. these failures should not have occurred so frequent in a car that's less than 9 years old or in the said years above. i'll not consider buying another mazda for my next car. also the so called "fun to drive" is very subjective just because most car reviews said that the rest just parroted.
@god12844 жыл бұрын
@@joyzz6533 Jeez wtf what type of mazdas have you fucking owned. My parents used to own honda cars but upgraded to Mazda SUVs (CX 5 and CX 9 both top end trim) and the CX 5 has been going for 5 years no issues at all and the CX 9 has driven for a year with no issues, my mum did sell the CX 5 for a Lexus NX300 F Sport because it was getting old and she wanted an upgrade but the car carried full passengers, full heavy loads in the boot and went for heaps of kilometres with literally not even one issue in 5 years of heavy daily use. Now after considering a RAV4, CRV or CX 5 I've after heaps of research and a few test drives, bough myself a Mazda CX 5 Akera and compared to the RAV4 and especially the CRV it's got way better performance and handling and the interior feels amazing compared to the other 2 along with way better cruise control and lane keeping assist. Also compared to Mitsubishi the build quality on the interior feels better with more solid parts that feel like they won't break or rip off even if I tried my hardest to break them, one of the things Mazda does best is actually build quality and rigidity. And people say Mazdas are fun to drive because they perform better than competing cars, and they do have better turbocharged engines and steer better so I wouldn't say that the statement is incorrect although it is subjective. Mazda is more of an entry level luxury brand than a average consumer brand, with cars that feel wayy more expensive than Toyotas or Hondas or Mitsubishis or any competing cars for the same price, they may be priced a bit higher on the versions with nicer leather and real wood but that's justifiable. Unless the Mazdas in america specifically are super super shit compared to Mazdas anywhere else, everything you said is wrong, I know many other people with Mazda cars and have never head of the issues you're speaking of.

The absence of a touchscreen is actually one of my favorite things about this car. Especially when driving down bumpy roads, I tend to get a lot of misclicks. Also as someone who REALLY likes haptic feedback, that's lacking on most cars so it's hard to tell if you actually did what you wanted to do. I also really like the positioning of the screen on this car for things like GPS and radio.
@kingzach742 жыл бұрын
I think the problem is though, most car manufacturers today are doing both. Giving the owner or driver the option of one or the other. Haptic feedback from a wheel, and giving the option of a touchscreen at the same time. Mazda for amazing as all the other features and options they offer...it would be nice to have both options available to the driver or passenger. Like imagine if you want your passenger to set your destination, it would be kind of difficult for them to lean over and reach for the rotating wheel that is designed to be accessible to the driver to adjust really anything on the screen. The scroll wheel is a great feature that many other automakers are more and more using, but the option for a touchscreen should be up to the driver, not the car company. They are in some instances far more efficient at interaction. ESPECIALLY for address entry. Sure there is voice input, but with road noise, possibly kids or other adults in the vehicle making a lot of noise, it really isn't always the best option. Having more options for interaction is certainly better than less.

Bought my first Mazda last fall. It's true about the infotainment rotary dial. At first it was weird, but over time, you beging to learn the "patterns" so you don't even have to look away from the road at all. Any time I drive my wife's Jeep, I find myself staring at the screen longer to find the Burton I want to push. Mazda is correct - it's much less distracting not having to touch the screen and poke around.

I agree with Mazda about touch screens. Buttons enable lots of tactile feedback when using infotainment systems, which also allows many common functions to be memorized and inputted without even looking. After a few days driving an Audi A4, I can say im extremely comfortable using the infotainment system which is controlled with a wheel similar to this, I can't say the same for my brothers GTI or my father's Accord even though I drive both very frequently. I think touchscreens shine using Android Auto and Apple Car Play though, so I think a combination of physical buttons with some touch controls are really the best

Daniel Kemnitz Dougs scoring is useless. He needs to give his scores relative only to the cars in that segment. If this is the best in the segment give it high scores. Don’t give it a score on speed/power/acceleration of 2 when there is no other in the segment faster 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Seriously I have seen so many negative comments about his scoring that you’d think he’d re-jig how he scores and just state that the scores are relative to the car class he’s reviewing.
@Real_MisterSir4 жыл бұрын
@@johanneswielenga6902 The CX30 has comparably more equipment and more upscale features than its pricepoint rivals, so there's no reason it would depreciate more than others in its class, most likely the opposite - and small subcompact crossovers generally dont have much depreciation anyways, it's not like a merc than can be expected to lose half its value in 7 years. Of course all this should factor into the value score, but Doug seems to forget all sense of common logic when putting that score down, it's like he's rolling a dice that only has the numbers 5, 6, and 7 on it.

I just bought a CX-30 for myself and thought I'd chime in with my own 2 cents re: the infotainment system. I, like many young folks my age, grew up surrounded by technology. The fact that all 2021+ CX-30s (and to my knowledge all but the base trim of the 2020 version) come standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay means you don't need to spend any time faffing around in the infotainment system if you don't want. Android Auto/CarPlay replace the built-in infotainment system. The voice button on the left of the steering wheel calls up Google Assistant/Siri when your phone is connected. I can control pretty much everything by voice without even looking at the screen, and the few things I choose to use the center dial to control are quick and easily accessible. The clicky feedback on the dial is great, it's super reliable and I never misclick, which is my main gripe about using touchscreens in cars. Plus, by ditching the touch aspect of the screen, Mazda is able to place the screen in a much more convenient viewing position, and it's not constantly covered with fingerprints the way a regular touchscreen would be. I totally get why this is a controversial design choice but I have really grown to love it.

Hi Doug, part of the performance is Mazda's excellent automatic transmission. It has a sport mode and even a manual mode. The torque converter is basically for 1st gear crawling, with it locking up in the other ratios. This also contributes to the fuel economy. Mazda also bucks the turbo trend and rather gives a larger displacement naturally aspirated engine.

honestly i dont think skyactiv-g is given enough credit. its kinda like the modern day vtec where instead of just being a regular car in the low end and a sports car in the top end, skyactiv-g runs a gas engine like a diesel from time to time to make a lot of torque when you need it, horsepower when you need it, and all do it with good fuel economy and no turbo. Mazda created a crazy ass engine technology instead of just adding a turbo. I believe there isnt a single turbo in mazdas whole line up and not a single cvt either. mazda deserves respect for sure.
