Mazda P0111 intake air temperature. Circuit testing and code removal from fault table

Had a very similar scenario with a nissan... It had dpf solution elsewhere and had a bad job of it and they said to him it will be fine... I diagnosed it to be a glow plug to be failed stopping the dpf to regen... There's people buying software cheap and these have a go heros are deleting stuff because they can't fix the original fault and causing other faults by doing so.... The customer now states his mate can't do it cheaper after all!!!!! It gives you a massive headache and chase your tail for no reasons

I believe these are the worst type of problems and people 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ And most of the time the repair would have been quite simple to begin with if it was just left alone 🤔👍👍

I see you have a garage full of Mazdas too 😂😂 I remember when you had the other way around, the fault code was already deleted from the table and you had to find the problem and the root of it. I love it too 😂 when you can't see the actual fault because someone was messing with the software already and makes the diagnosis a way harder. I completely agree with Baz. What I would have tried in your place is to update the software,but very likely that would have gotten rid of the "modificatio" and would have triggered DPF faults. Anyways, great job as always Peter❗️

This was the discussion I had with the customer. Do we reinstall the original software but the have to either put in a Dpf or continue on the path that we are being forced down by the previous place. He chose just continuing & deleting the temperature fault purely driven by cost. And yes Mazda’s all over the place 😬😂😂😂

The hardest cars I find to fix are ones that cannot or are not telling you the truth & I find this to be the case in most cars that have had egr or dpf deletes done 😳😳

Hi there Peter I’ve just watched this video and it’s bothered me I believe you’re correct in the diagnosis btw but it’s got me thinking though lol next time if ever you see that car again or indeed another Mazda 1.5 diesel if you look on the intake manifold the charge air cooler is tucked inside and on that charge air cooler is a map and temp sensor combined it’s not perhaps that at fault and I’m also led to believe there’s an intake temp sensor from the turbo outlet or inlet down the back of the engine on a plastic pipe hmmmm lol

I had thought the same, I left it sitting for around 1 week thinking about it. I have an intake temperature sensor on the intercooler in the 2.2d. But couldn’t find a second on the car or on wiring diagrams. But you now have me thinking too, I’ll be rummaging on one tomorrow 🤪🤪

Car looks perfect cosmetically but a right mess really..! Fair play Peter and great to have the CX-3 to cross compare…that helped to guide your conclusion for certainty. Having deleted the DPF and remapped I wonder from that point forward was the P0111 error present or did it develop at some later point and if so what triggered it..once remapped that version shouldn’t change? I know removing the fault from the system table means it will never show but is it now true to say that overall the car won’t run at it’s optimum as it thinks it’s moving close to the sun at 215 degrees and so would the computer think at 215 degrees air is less dense and adjust fuel etc. accordingly…this car could be back to you again for much more serious intensive care work ☺️‼️

Absolutely Damien, this is the issue because if a Dpf is getting blocked in the first place something is causing it to happen. Overfueling, intake air restriction or something inhibiting regeneration temperature to be reached. But yes this is the issue, money V quality. It will definitely be back once the NCT introduce particle matter testing in the near future 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

The yanks seem to be able to look up all info on any car quickly, is this not available in Europe?

It can sometimes be hit and miss. Autodata is around €1200 per annum. I don’t have an Alldata paid prescription but they might have had it. I can request it from a technical helpline I have, but didn’t in this case 😉

Very common occurrence nowadays but the nct are bringing Particle matter testing and this will shake up the car industry really fast 😬😬😬

No, the software in the engine ECU was changed when a previous garage deleted the Dpf and the intake air temperature couldn’t be seen due to this. So we just got the IAT fault deleted totally from the fault table to avoid large dpf replacement expense 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

I don’t quite understand ?? A new air flow meter which has the IAT sensor in it was fitted by the 1st garage & didn’t resolve the issue 🤔
