I completely understand the love you have for your P5. Got mine a year ago, last week it broke the timing belt. That gave me the motivation to start the project build, started simple. Full exhaust, intake, coil overs, all new motor/ trans mounts. Just trying to source intake manifold throttle body and cams... nobody makes much for these anymore. I hope to one day be close to what you have. Great job

That’s the ZE engine. That’s prob why you have an issue. That engine doesn’t work with the automatic transmissions as far as I know. That’s why they said you need a different ecu. Go to the protege Facebook pages. Protege chillspot and Mazda protege owners.
@aricowan87314 жыл бұрын
Rage Fueled the engine I have now is FSDE. A buddy of mine told me, he was 2002 mazda p5. I put a new fuel pump cause I wasn’t receiving any fuel and the engine is not receiving power, and it’s doing the same thing, crank and no start.
@RageFueled4 жыл бұрын
Have you checked all fuses? Is it getting spark? If the injectors are getting fuel then start going back through your wiring and find out where it isn’t giving power.

Fast? Have to boost. They aren’t a high HP car. I set mine up to be fun to drive and handle good.
@gregoryvalavanis63035 жыл бұрын
@@RageFueled ok sure fun to drive is more important than fast but I'd like mine to be uhhhh faster than just stock
@RageFueled5 жыл бұрын
Sure sure. I understand that. My point was very few FSDE engines put down enough power to be considered fast. That said mine is very far from stock. I’m full bolt on. First things first for any decent gain in performance other than weight reduc is cold air intake, full exhaust, and an MP3 ECU. Then move to ported intake, long reach plugs, 1.8 coils, lightweight pulleys, cams, etc. I’m still planning pulley, cams and a piggyback but that’s being postponed.
@gregoryvalavanis63035 жыл бұрын
@@RageFueled wow sounds good thanks for the info!

The more you do the less you gain. All my mods help each other. I breath better. Get more fuel. Exhaust better. I’m lighter. Less accessory drain without AC or PS. I have several place with weight reduc. Keep in mind though these cars supply their fun from handling and fun to drive ability. I have my chassis pretty tight stiff. Makes it feel faster than it is.

The key to Mazda is really before Ford got them. 2003 and older were built in Japan and shipped here. The first generations of the Mazda3 and Mazda6 were half Ford. Pre '03 Ford used Mazda instead of the other way around. They had their issues.
