Cool Rear lights. But the airbox removal.. you know the only upgrades you're getting is sound. The Mazda has a pretty good cold intact system available.. and its OEM.... it's the one you've just removed. Yes it sounds good.. but the underbonnet temperatures mean you'll be loosing power, not gaining.

Appreciate the comment, I know the stock intake is great but this is all for fun, I know some people claim power loss while some claim gains, if I had a dyno I'd experiment a before and after but I'm not that fortunate 👍
@akhilrao8268 Жыл бұрын
the power loss is documented on the rx8club forums somewhere. i believe the AEM intake would give you the CAI sound without thepowerr loss.@@MECHANRICKS

Appreciate the comment, in all honesty my car runs rich and so far I've not had chance to drive my car for a long distance to see how it performs but from what I have driven it so far its running great and no idle issues, I'm not looking to gain HP yet as the car maybe getting mapped in the future as other work is carried out and maybe I'll dyno it in the future to see what its like, that being said if you want big HP in an RX8 the first mod is swap out the engine 😂

@@MECHANRICKS LOL yes swap a LS6 and turbo it.

@@MECHANRICKS The intake could be contributing to running rich.would highly recommend the stock setup over K&n.Lights are fantastic though.

i bought my rx8 with that intake. I removed the filter ( it was trashed) and put on a beautiful yellow filter I found on Amazon that fits the weird diameter. (it matches the lightning yellow engine bay too. ) "aFe 72-91040 Magnum Flow 5-1/2" Flange Diameter"

Nice 👌 how long you had the new filter fitted?

Nice to see some Rx8 content, just wondering where you think the water will go on this gasket-less new rear lights?
@MECHANRICKS10 ай бұрын
Thanks for comment, im hoping it rolls off the lights and not inside the boot. Funny you mention it as I've had to change the rear lamp gaskets once in the 10 years of owning the car so time will tell with these. More RX8 content to follow soon 😉👍

I have the same intake system, it would be interesting to see tests on a dyno, K&N says about an increase in power of about 11 horsepower.
@MECHANRICKS Жыл бұрын
That is true but others would beg to differ 😉👍 Have you had any issues? And how long have you had it fitted?
@gpi6008 Жыл бұрын
I bought the car with the intake system already installed about 8 years ago. There are no problems with it, I clean the filter periodically, K&N has a cleaning kit. The filter is also equipped with a K&N PreCharger.@@MECHANRICKS

What matters is not “how much power has increased”, but in what rpm range! What's the use of having +11 hp at 8000 rpm? It’s a completely different matter if you have +2 hp but in the range of 5000 - 9000 rpm! The intake in the video reduces torque and power at low speeds down to medium rpm and increases it slightly only at high rpm (7000-9000 rpm), but do you always drive only at high rpm? Even on the racetrack, medium rpm are important, and in the city low rpm are also important.

@@saschasegatz2861 Thats a shame my friend, wouldn't have thought the EU regulations would be that strict, I imagine its because there is no reflector built into the lights, not sure if you could circumvent that by adding a reflector onto the bumper?
@jamesowen418 Жыл бұрын
The K&N intake looks coole, but they dont have a great reputation. You just need a metal tray under there to replace the stock plastic airbox base now. LRB motorsport make one, or you could probably make your own.
