Thats out off it cause we learnt having a ruffer surface actually caused better airflow with having the air been stirred up to cause better flow for mixture with the fuel and air can understand getting rid off sharper edges but getting rid off the ruff intake surface would compromise over benefits.this is just what we have found with doing rotary engines and intake manifolds.but still interesting to see what you guys have found we might find another manifold and throw our standard rx8 on a dyno and switch manifolds to see the differences also.

To ruff is no good and Mazda castings are that. To ruff and undersized in some areas. We make sure to leave a proper surface finish to atomize fuel and optimize air flow.

Edit: When I did this the LIM was off the engine and stripped down to the bare cast aluminum piece. Please don't put weird stuff through your engine. A trick I learned to get rid of the carbon is to use oven cleaner down the runners. Word of warning I've heard it "eats" metal, I didn't notice damage the substance would have caused after looking at the machined sealing surface of the flange, seemed like the finish was the same. I was happy to have clean runners without scrubbing for 2 hours. Always try using the properly designed chemicals for your goal though and be prepared for a bad outcome if you don't.

Better to use automotive products. Some cleaning products can damage bearings and housings. I do know people use it though. 👍

@@KyleMohanRacing Couldn't agree more. I should have noted that the manifold was off the engine and stripped down to the bare cast piece. I'll edit that not before someone tries spraying oven cleaner down their LIM while it's still on the engine.

Besides the intake and factory cat is there anywhere else to squeeze n/a power out of an rx8? Have you heard of any street driven rx8s hitting 300-350whp on a properly built n/a 2 rotor?
@Statikk Жыл бұрын
absolutely impossible. when looking at an rx8 we have to realize that this car was fully decked out from the factory as far as it could go legally. only corners cut were due to emissions laws. with a factory rx8 running around 180-200 whp, the max you would get would probably be 230 maybe 250 whp. and that’s with all the marbles, full straight through exhaust, ideal intake, and a really really good tune. so unless you want to go for more aggressive options like bridgeporting, street porting, or p-porting, 250 is the limit in terms of whp. Now if you go P-port, you’re looking at closer to 310 n/a, but that requires rebuilding the engine. TLDR: Bolt on NA max power? 250 WHP Ported NA Max power? 300-320WHP
@bobjames1521 Жыл бұрын
@@StatikkI'd even say that you're overestimating. With a perfect tune, intake, exhaust and streetport you can hope for about 250bhp (not to the wheels). Remember that mazda overrepresented the numbers from factory so a stock 6 port rx8 only makes about 200bhp. Also bridgeport etc tend to make less than streetports.
@АртурАгафонов-ш3ц Жыл бұрын
@@bobjames1521 No, exhaust + porting + tuning ECU (i mean stock ECU) = 278 hp And this made in Russia. The maximum possible achievable power on gasoline will be in the region of 310-330 hp, but it will be necessary to completely rework the intake and exhaust system, as well as make aggressive porting, change the ignition system, reconfigure the ECU, etc. (not to the wheels) But it will not be cheap, it's like creating a new engine from scratch. And of course, the question is what will be happens on the power / torque graph, because just peak power does not mean that this engine is good.

@@ebenezervelez9147 we never had much success with RX8 rotors in RX7 motors so I don't really recommend it personally. But thats just me... RX7 rotors generally work better in RX7 applications.
