Thanks so much Brutmaster08. I watched your video over and over, as I repaired my wife's car. It was surging, and ran a scanner on it, and it was the coil in #3. I busted the hose that went from the throttle body to the firewall of the engine. Anyway, the dealer sold it for 35 bucks. However, even though I ran into my own issues seeing the video over and over again was all the help I needed to get the job done right... all thanks to you. Now my wife is happy again, as her car is running smoothly, even though she only drives about 200 miles a year, lol.God Bless Man.

Just completed the job on 2006 Mazda 6 3.0L! Had a code P0301 on cylinder #1. Just replace the coil, it is not worth your time to diagnose. Autozone will do a free code check and the code will tell suspect cylinder, mine happened to be #1. Also, some suggestions. The two hoses connected to the throttle body were easier to remove by disconnecting the other end of the hoses. Access was adequate to remove clamps and did not remove Battery. Also get a new gasket for the EGR valve, same material at the manifolds but circular. I did however re-use the one at the EGR connection. This video was accurately captured and of great help.

It's a good video. Useful hint for those removing the EGR valve - the nut attaching the exhaust pipe is threading back into the valve. All you need to know is that when you have the crescent wrench on the sucker, turn it clockwise to loosen.

Brutmaster08... the coil change went perfectly! Well, not really perfectly, had to fight with a couple hoses and connectors, but other than that, it went exactly as your video, minus the spark plug change. (got those replaced by the dealer earlier... if I saw your video sooner, I would have done those myself too.) The car runs great, the check engine light turned off. For a guy who has only recently started working on my own car... this is a big deal. Thanks again, and awesome video.

hi brutmaster; thank you for that video, because of it I was able to change out all 6 of my spark plugs and the coil on plugs this pass Saturday. the hose on the bottom of the throttle body was a bit difficult to remove, so I just unbolt the throttle body from the manifold and leave attach to the throttle body that hose and it work just fine. thank you once more.

It is the negative terminal first.... Because when taking the positive out you could touch ground and kabumm blowms fuses of burn wires or even computer. Oil in the spark plugs are rubber for the spark plugs . the come with the valve cover gasket kit.

Ok after a little research I see they refer to under the back seat. There is a black cover with a wire coming out of it. Remove cover and filter is there. But they say it pricey to replace. I have tried to see where to get a filter and no luck. People on form say the filter is part of the basket assembly, so your buying the whole basket assembly. .....Fuel filter I am thinking of might be on the Ford Escort. LOL. Hope this helps.

Every electrical connection I removed was needed to get intake out. I would just shoot some carb cleaner in the throttle body. I used anti seize on the threads because where I live the temp can go down to -40 below and up to 100 degrees. The temp changes so much and with all the salt they use it causes corrosion about everywhere. Don't want them to freeze and rip the threads out if I need to replace them again. Best of luck with our project!!

The I4 is simple as cake. Remove plastic cover, unplug coils, remove coils(do not mix them up), then remove each spark plug. Install new plugs...not too tight. Install each coil where they came from, install coil wire, install plastic cover, and start it up. My bro has an 07 I4 and put the Bosch 4504 in there. MPG went from 26 to 28, put an K&N cold air went to 29-31 depending on driving habits. If you need a video, let me know, will make one tonight.

Well I got my car with 55k on it and drove to 137k, I have seen people replacing spark plugs around 60k, while others like me drive way past that. I would say that they are probably original. Here is what I bought for coils..have not installed yet though, waiting to get the time to: IC 23 02-07 just google that and click on amazon. I have read some shaky engines and after new sparks and coils they were fixed. Hope that is a good fix for you, any least its due for replacement.

Darn that stinks, so it's burning oil bad? How many miles on it? Sounds like a previous owner did not car for the car that good and let the oil get too low. Good Luck changing them out, best of luck. Let me know if you need any direction. Make sure you finger start each spark plug until its in to prevent cross threading. Also don't tighten too much they only take a little bit. I have zero tools! I planned on going to Autozone, since they loan tools for free. As for the plugs, yea, the engine is in BAD shape! Ive been having to change out the front spark plugs every 6 months or so (dont drive it much, maybe 5-6k miles per year), because they get drained in oil and i keep getting missfire codes on two of the front cyliders. I figured this time, i'd change them myself rather than dish out $200 like the last time!

Like last night when I just replaced the front three everything was fine just I didn't properly seal the manifold so the can ran real rough, but now everything's bolted on, all switches properly attached all tubes connected everything and nope it keeps going from 1,000rpm to 2,000rpm it's intervailing between the two and it will not go past 2,000rpm there's absolutely zero power.
