The Children of the Old Ones have many of my favorite characters. Kroq-gar: has been a living slaughterhouse for thousands of years. Nakai: was eventually left to hold a bridge alone against Chaos and traumatized them. Oxyotl: hunted Chaos in its own home and retained his sanity. Mazdamundi: dark elves invading? Let me just create a living MOUNTAIN CHAIN just for the shits. Love them all.

I like to think WH Fantasy and 40k parallel/temporal dimensions, in my own Head Canon that is. And I like to think of the Slann Mages as the "Shamans" that gave birth to the Emperor of Man. While the Emperor slumbers, Mazdamundi can awaken in his realm.. (Of course I have other Head Canons specific to 40k about the Emperor, Golden Men of Golden Age, Custodes etc..)
