Most anyone that has experience in this platform will tell you to go act 6puck for budget or a cm750 or cm850. Stay away from the xclutch twin disc stuff. Clutchmasters has been proven over and over again. I personally have a southbend stage 3 endurance. Yes its a stiffer pedal. Holds 30-35psi on my 6062 all day long. I would prob go cm750 or cm850 if i have to buy another clutch in the future, just to get some daily driver pedal feel back. I also switched from a returnless setup to a cs cell this go around. I bought the cell by itself and pieced together fittings and lines along with the pump and filters. Use there instructions to help figure out fittings and lines myself. Running e85 in the cell and my tuner has roughly 16° of timing peak. cant wait for the video on rebuilding the transmission, hope its step by step 👌👌👌

@gimmethecarkeys Thanks for that great info! I appreciate that:) I'm liking the way a CM twin disc sounds. Now I wonder how much of a difference there is in driveability between the 750 vs the 850. I'm assuming the 750 will have a lower rotating mass which might make the engine a little more rev happy. I also wonder what the longevity is like on these two if primarily daily driving.

@WannabeTuners pretty much just used there cell. They have instructions for there full kit they offer and I sort of copied what fittings they used and made my own, bought my own fuel pump relay kit. It saves around roughly 300ish dollars when you piece it together yourself. In the instructions they give you fitting numbers also. You can use any 340lph pump you want. Aem, quantum is what they use in there kit. Prices can vary. They include a plastic hobb switch in there kit. I bought a 4-6psi Honeywell hobb switch for mine that is npt thread that will go on my intercooler piping since i have the port for it. I currently just have it on when the key is on, I haven't spent the time to wire the hobb yet. There "complete" kit makes it simpler for the user and includes everything obviously. But I just opted to build my own. It is nice not mixing anymore tho. Just put e85 in the cell when it gets low and plain ole pump gas in the tank.

For the mods you have a factory clutch (+fidanza FW) is well undersized. I have this combo on my CX7 (gen2 2867 + built engine) is it's pretty buzzy as well. On my 3 I have the Southbend Stage3 enduro which is a great clutch, even more predictable than stock, lasts quite long, but it gives you a stiff pedal (this being the only downside really). The ACT 6puck is good but it will wear out quickly. You say now that you have 50k kms on your Fidanza+LUK combo, well, in this case a ACT 6puck will probably start going out at around 35-40k. I'd honestly look at the steel flywheels the guys from Damond Motorsports got custom made for the Action clutches. I would not go twin disk, but now if it was to pick another clutch I'd probably go for maybe a stage2 or 3 from Action Clutch.
@WannabeTuners
@WannabeTuners Ай бұрын
@mituc That's awesome man, thanks for all the good info. I've never heard of Action clutches, I'll have to look into them. Why wouldn't you recommend a twin disc?
@mituc
@mituc Ай бұрын
@@WannabeTuners I do not recommend a twin disc on a mainly street driven car because I'm not convinced it worth the hassle of dealing with a twin-disc if a single disc can hold the amount of torque you aim for. My SB stage3 enduro is rated for 500lbft/675Nm, I shattered a gearbox at about 800Nm/600-ish lb*ft and I'm still using that clutch after almost 70k kms and 8 years. Now I'm running a bit less than 800Nm (like 750-760) and I can still hear the gearbox screaming for its life, but the clutch is absolutely fine.
@WannabeTuners
@WannabeTuners Ай бұрын
@mituc Wow that sounds like the clutch may be advertised to handle less than it actually can. Thanks for that real world information. Maybe I can just go with an SB stage 3 Enduro then 🤔 How did the gearbox shatter?
@mituc
@mituc Ай бұрын
@@WannabeTuners Last WOT log before going home (5th gear), and it shattered 4th and 5th gears. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6LbaJSwmJaZl5o Even the factory clutch can handle 520-540Nm/380-390lb*ft for a while on a factory fw (I'm actually pushing about 600+Nm/450lb*ft on an OEM clutch with a fidanza FW on my CX7) so it's no surprise that these significantly stronger clutches will handle more as long as you don't clip them excessively.
@WannabeTuners
@WannabeTuners Ай бұрын
@mituc Oh wow! What rpm did it let go at? Was the turbo fully spooled up? You really opened my eyes though when it comes to clutches. I really don't need something too crazy because the car is a street car. It just needs to hold good safe torque and last a long time.

You mentioned that you have 50,000kms on your clutch. Do you have the same amount of KMs on your new forged engine? Just curious as I have a similar build with 24,000 on it currently (Manley pistons, rods etc). Cheers
@WannabeTuners
@WannabeTuners Ай бұрын
@jasonc2948 No the built engine has only 15,000 km's on it. I've read that so long as you let the engine warm up, it reduces cylinder wear from piston slap.

@ twin disc is basically the same as the single just heavy pedal. if you arent pushing a crazy amount of torque just go with a single full face that can take the tq, they are a bit more but its usually worth it for the drivability and longevity . got a 6 puck, lasted 7 months, horrible for basic traffic.
