For what it is worth, As a soldier in Bosnia in the 90's we listened to this song after missions. We worked all night then would return in the mornings to rest. The team I was on would request that I would play this song and the entire CD to relax. Hope's voice crossed all genres of music tastes and allowed the team moments of relaxation. I wonder today if the rest of the guys feel the same emotions (sadness, loneliness and calm) if and when they hear this song.

Mephisto Cat Good story. I know Vancouver’s Chinatown well. Would drive up there from Seattle with my ABC wife (American Born Chinese), along with her mom and aunt. We went there for a $5 whole crab special that one of the many hole-in-the-wall restaurants offered on Sunday afternoons. Usually a dreary/rainy day when we went. Can’t think of a better neighborhood to broadcast Mazzy Star tracks from suspended speakers. The perfect atmosphere and conditions to hear Hope S.

I have a friend who is...lost, which is the way I see it. I am 64, she is half my age. She is so intelligent, has such a great sense of humor. She lives on the street. I don't get it. Saw Mazzy Star at the Metro in Chicago in 1996 (playing with Sparklehorse). When they got to this song the packed venue was absolutely silent. Hope was able to get out 2 lines or so before she broke out in tears & ran off stage. Still one of the most devastating, beautiful things I've ever witnessed.

one of the most beautiful voices and faces ever. I love Hope. I saw her at the 9:30 club in DC and she's very shy on stage. She likes the lights totally off so that you can hardly even see her. So even when you do go see her, you don't really get to. Which is fine. I accept that. that's totally her right as a performer, other performers such as Sia are the same way in that regard). But I definitely would have liked to have seen her in concert in the early 90's when she performed out in the open more in California. Excellent audio from 1993. Thanks to Hermesacat for finding the best version available. I bought a CD of "The Black Sessions - Mazzy Star" many years ago from ebay. Paid $100.00 for it back then. Almost impossible to find one now.
