MB E (W213) strange crackling - rattling sound from dashboard

This Mercedes sometimes has strange sound from dashboard. My car is still under warranty. Because of this problem my MB was in official store for about 8 times but they can't find the problem. Sometimes this sound stops sometimes starts agains.
Have somebody has this stange sound too?

Thank you for your video. After spending £100's this managed to sort my problem. I removed both bars and drove the car, and the noise went. I then added added the bars back on with rubber mounts below and above. Thanks once again.

Holy hell! That would make me clinically insane after 5 minutes. I own a 2002 S55 AMG and lately the right rear passenger door rattles like crazy, I'm 90% certain that it's due to the sliding ashtray compartment which I will fix shortly as I have severe OCD when it comes to rattling noise in a car. But other than that the cabin is totally quiet, which makes me feel more appreciative of the older Mercedes build quality. Hope you got it sorted out, and above all that it doesn't come back.

Passenger seat, above the window, the handle to grab to rest your arm. In my MB E that was the source. Let me know if I were right. Ciao!

This panel pops out quite easily, just use your fingernail or a knife. This is made from cheap brittle plastic & cheap wire mesh, which Mercedes thought was ok! Stuff felt padding in between the plastic & the wire mesh, but leave enough venting to allow cooling. Mercedes now use really cheap brittle plastics throughout the cabin, which creak. Days of high quality solid Mercs are sadly gone.

I had the same rattle. The screws of the transverse reinforcements in the engine bay were a bit loose. Took me many many hours of dissasembly until I found the cause...very frustrating.

@@kacperluka I can't post pictures in comments, but I will try to explain as best as I can. Open the hood, and on both sides of the engine you have two covers. On the driver side under the cover you will find the break pump, and the brake liquid recipient. You will also see an aluminium rod/pipe that is mounted on the chasis for reinforcement. The rod is bolted to the chasis by an E type screw. That screw is getting just a little bit loose in time and the aluminium rod will start to rattle in friction with the chassis. Tighten that screw. On the passenger side you have another cover and underneath you will find the battery and the cabin filter. An identical aluminium rod is there. Tighetn the bolts as on the driver side. By miracle you will find that the car will be silent again as new! Good luck and hope this will help you.

i noticed a pop every like 30 seconds once on left side near window second time near driver i guess it could be same issue but its not like this as this is really disturbing. Can someone please share photo via email or pdf i would much appreciate it

They do that when they're new and it's so loud now it's horrible all the crunching doesn't even have to be that bumpy I guess they don't build them right the interior is coming loose

Hi had same problem last 3weeks I changed track end rods and no joy got it sorted this evening thank god just to let you all know it's the two shiny steel bars running from top of shocks back under your wipers tightened the 4nuts job sorted you may have to remove the wipers and remove the plastic cover to get in at back 2nuts which I did got a good 3turns on them all hope this helps someone

This noise could probably be your strut braces being slightly loose. Aluminium ones in the engine bay under plastic covers to bulkhead. 5 minute fix.

@@DontWantToSayName yes i feel it, i also checked everything outside i can't find it, i started to think about selling the car because rattling is not something i expected in Mercedes from 2017, do you have squeaking interior whem you press the plastics on the door and everything.

@@bigbogus2888 Yes I have squeak but I have GREAT news for you. They solved my creaking today! It's not from the dashbaord, it's a loose bolt in the engine bay. Totally no squeaks now, took 3 minutes to fix, dealer says it's known problme in w213 I will add another comment with link to the loose part

@@bigbogus2888 I don't have pictures but on top of the engine there is a piece of metal like a W, it is held by two bolts on the left and the right it covers the engine. The left one was loose and soo the aluminum piece was moving and this is the sound that was looking like form the dashboard. I also had a separate thump in the steering when I turn on incline or decline, turns out it was also this piece. So 3 minutes at the dealer, one tighter bolt and I'm a very happy man now. Drove 2 hours since, no sound no creaking no squeaking nothing.

This is a white metal bar in a w shape tight all the nuts that will solve the issue. Mine is fixed now
