Quick FYI for those currently prepping for the GMAT that the exam has changed since this video was created in 2022. Although a lot of stuff from the old version still applies, there is stuff that doesn't anymore. The new version, for example, does not have Sentence Correction. This doesn't necessarily mean that old prep material is bad per se. I may for instance still suggest to students to check out Manhattan Prep's 6th Edition for Critical Reasoning - which is part of the prep material linked by Slowlybutshrly - even though it came out years ago.

Hi Shirley, hope you are doing well. I was wondering if you studied for the GMAT while at KPMG or during your undergrad? Is it reasonable to score close to 700 in about 3 months?
@yowza1243 Жыл бұрын
Your commentary on the weighting of verbal scores in GMAT is a little off from what I have heard about this quant/verbal skew. The GMAT score is closely tied to percentile, not right vs wrong answers. Because there are so many high achieving quant takers, a 47 is a good score but today only higher than 57% of others. Meanwhile, far far less people get perfect verbal scores than perfect quant, so those with higher verbal are distinguishing themselves in a far higher percentile relative to quant. The net affect is this “weighting” you mention but I don’t think it is imposed on by any committee or test writer. Offering this as a second perspective to your viewers.
@fakefake7413 Жыл бұрын
Your percentile argument is highly misleading. The point of her statement was that GMAT unfairly leans toward Americans cuz they tend to underperform in quant. Your statement that it’s harder to get a perfect verbal score (which implies quant is easier) only perpetuates the bias within the American Administered GMAT cuz international students will perform lower than Americans on verbal and better on quant. Thus the quant score reflects the strong aptitude of Americans and International students while the verbal tends to rewards Americans.

I was accepted to Stern New York University Graduate School of Management and earned my MBA in marketing 1989. This was THE worst mistake I ever made in my life. Stern NYU MBA was supposedly the #1 MBA program in the USA in '89 with first year Stern MBA's earning on average over $100,000 a year their first year out. Not me! The Stern NYU MBA Program is all "theories" , highest highest level statistics, economics, mainframe computer commands, using that HP Engineering Calculator that doesn't have an "=" sign. These proved to be worse than worthless in the real American business world. Plus Stern NYU is extremely political - Woke, dominated by very mean, feminist Leftist man hating women - the Stern NYU Alumni magazine is pretty much Woke DEI from cover to cover. And when Stern NYU MBA says they are for DEI Diversity Equity and Inclusion they don't include straight White American men like us. Sure, if you're a Han Chinese guy from mainland Communist China and you want to get out, gain entry in to the USA/the West and the Chinese Government is paying the (Obscene expensive) Stern NYU MBA tuition - this is probably a good career move. Or... if you are an East Indian from India or Pakistani from Pakistan and want to get out of the dirty 3rd world and Stern, Harvard, Yale business schools will accept you and promise you some departmental head here in the USA - that's also a good career move. But for us American men... No, NOPE. That's a serious NO, NOPE. DOn't do it. Earning an MBA at Stern New York University in 1989 was THE worst thing I ever did in my life. This ruined my life. Don't make the same mistake I did. Jaye Left behind in Chicago

Heyy i got two questions 1. Is it possible for someone from belgium that has currently a bachelor degree in the study international business to get accepted??? 2. What do mean with work experience you mean like when you got your bachelor degree and what kind of work just working in a company and does the internship that you did in your time in college count as workexperience??
@Hm-ky3nu Жыл бұрын
Hi fellow Belgian. Did you get your business degree in university or college? To apply for an MBA you need a few years of real life work experience, unlike in Belgium where you pursue a master immediately after your bachelor. If you want to do a master immediately after your bachelor you should look at a highly ranked master in management. Most top master in management degrees are at European business schools such as LBS, HEC, Insead, Rotterdam… good luck
