'Nuther cool video. I used to put coins on tracks as a kid, but even at that age I had enough sense to not do it when a train was coming at me.

Great you enjoyed the video! Right, one would think common sense prevents people from doing such foolish things. Apparently not...

@@mbmars01yes, people are extremely dumb at times. Oh look, here comes a fast freight, let me get this penny on the track before the train gets here, lays penny on track, train moving faster than expected, ah well, I really didn't need that hand anyway, oh look, also got part of my arm up to my elbow, ah well no problem, at least I got the coin on the tracks.🙄 Oh brother, I've actually seen more than my fair share of idiots doing this over my many years of railfanning. Did witness a few accidents, 2 that ended in fatalities and dismembered bodies. Not a pleasant sight. You just can't fix stupid people. Now years ago, I used to work with a guy and we scraped up what was left of victims, such as train vs pedestrian, train vs vehicle accidents and other morbid scenes, so if I was at an incident that happened I'd just call Gerald(wasn't his actual name, it was his codename, which sometimes changed several times over the year, as did mine to protect our identities) and have him meet me at the accident seen, since I already knew we'd be the ones cleaning and bagging the evidence. That's how I got the nickname Mr. Bones. I'm retired from everything now, but I doubt I could do that job today, I think I'd look more like this now 🤢🤮. But when I was younger nothing like this ever bothered me. I was a strange one in my younger days.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@mbmars01... i bet the Crew on CSX 932 had notice that person was standing too close to the Tracks... plus i'm surprised the Engineer didn't blew the horn at him
@mbmars01

Idiots like that guy gives railfans a bad name and reputation. I guess he placed a coin on the rail. I'm sure it was a bit scary watching him close to the approaching train. But on the bright side the CSX blues looks nice again here. The switching at the feed mill was interesting. Great update as always, thanks for the Saturday fun.

True. I was also somewhat worried. One just never knows what can happen. The train was still accelerating after he had left Fowler Yard, but I don't think he could have stopped in time in case the person had gotten stuck near the the track. Great you liked watching this video, too!

Andreas👨‍✈😇👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Hi Andreas! Danke fuer Deinen Kommentar.

When I was 11, 12 somewhere in there, I was given a cab ride in an old U Boat of some kind, maybe a B36-7, from the depot there all the way to the yard up from it. Is the yard Fowler Junction? Childhood memory I'll always cherish, with a perfectly tuned K5LA on top of the engine, and a horn valve I was in control of. Times were so different back then.

Leaving aside the idiot on duty who are everywhere, I wanted to dwell on a curiosity, noted in several videos on CSX trains: is there a reason why CSX uses on certain trains (mainly coal trains, stacks and manifests) one or two in the lead and one in mid-train? I'll leave aside the "mega-trains" which are understood to be two trains joined into one.... Great video as always.
@mbmars01
@mbmars01 28 күн бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, CSX uses computer software to optimize the load balance by distributing power along the train. So, one lead engine and one well-placed DPU may be more fuel efficient and cause less strain on couplers and draw bars than, say, three units upfront. Funnily, we tested this on my hilly HO layout recently and also found that midtrain DPUs caused less trouble than rear-end DPUs :)

Why did the grain train only blow its horn for your crossing, and not the ones before?

Surprised they put a Gevo on the local. That sort of yhing is usually a job for a Geep
@mbmars01
@mbmars01 29 күн бұрын
It looks like they have so many surplus Gevos because they run fewer through trains, so they can also put them on the locals.

Don't the trains have cameras? Hopefully yes and the footage was given to RR security to find and charge the person. While I'm sure the intent was to have the train smash some object, the person cannot know if doing so might cause a derailment. Its irresponsible.
