Lye, or NaOH, will liquify at 323°c, and break down the quartz, leaving the gold unchanged in shape. It requires extreme ventilation and propper safety PPE, along with multiple repeats using new NaOH to complete, but seeing the raw gold in nugget, wire or crystal shape as it formed in the quartz would likely be worth the effort. Temperature shocking the quartz might be a less dangerous method for less scientifically minded persons.

Loved the video. Took me back to the "old" days of when I worked for Echo Bay Mining Co. at the historic Sunnyside gold mine near Silverton, CO. My pard and I drifted on the vein that ran under former Lake Emma. We drilled 2 6ft rounds that had loads of VG in both faces. I never had gold fever before, I caught then! And have had it since. 17:25 ... I grew up on a small farm One summer we had access to this BIG field of long grass, it had not been cut for 5 years! I mowed 2400 bales of hay in that barn by myself, with one big wagon and two pickup trucks hauling. (back when square baes ruled) That's the way I did it, just "where is the best spot for THIS bale. Like very bale was the last one : )

very cool to see a slip get uncovered and the disruption to the vein and how the event that caused the vein actually split into the rocks passed the slip , and i see what you mean by how the slip actually happened earlier and how the hot quarts fluids would have come in after and filled any of the voids made by the slips bending sliding pinching and twisting very cool , thats for the content this is so coooool :)

PLEASE take my advice to heart. Much of your setup looks like of a continuation of what Mine Operator was facing on Mine Rescue. You need to stop touching your ore 50 times before you get it processed. The longer you waste getting to profitability, the harder it will be to invest in the RIGHT setup. The reason those old timers went broke was not because there was no gold. They went broke because they didn't AUTOMATE. It shouldn't take you more than 1 hour to move 5 tons of ore out of that mine with 1 person if you take my advice. Get one of those mini skid loaders (the ones you stand on the back), replace the motor with a 10hp electric motor, dump it through a jaw crusher and either into a cart or conveyor to the chute. Build a proper box chute + conveyor so you dump the ore directly into a waiting dump truck bed. It should take 1 Person to transport the ore from the face to the truck. Those mini loaders cost $5k add about $2k for the electric motor, might even get one directly from china without converting it yourself. You have rock crushers but for $5k you can also get one from China. Conveyors can be built for

I 1000% agree with your first paragraph. Hand-mucking is bad enough, hand-mucking with so much rehandling is just awful. We started off with 70s and 80s rubber-tire diesel equipment; it's kept costs down and productivity up - I can get five tons of ore from the face to the surface in about twenty minutes working solo, and that's a total haul of about a quarter mile and 130' uphill. The truck loading bay we just blasted will improve on that even more. Good ventilation, biodiesel blends, and water exhaust scrubbers keep the air quality pleasant. The issue with their current stope is access. There's really no practical way to get a machine of any size in there right now. Once they break through into the raise, a small two-drum slusher is the best option. It can hoist itself up the raise and then pull its scraper up after it. With creative slusher block placement, the slusher could manage most of that stope and slush ore into the raise. Fitting out the raise with a chute permits direct car loading on the adit level. A real dump car would be a great upgrade, even if it has to be hand-trammed.

ive wondered this my self. ore carts to transport the ore to the chutes and dump it down the chutes to the next ore cart and then out the mine. a dingo ride on digger would be helpful, but the space is tight in there so it would be tricky to operate but still would beat hand mucking. ventilation would also be key.

Once they reach the winze, they will drastically shorten the distance to the entrance. That‘s what this season is about primarily, at least that’s what I understood I don’t see anyone bringing a mucker up the tight and bent path leading up to the working face. Maybe a slusher, with lock and tackle would be feasible. Don‘t worry about the business, the old timers didn’t have Ebay to support their endeavours. I wonder if Jason is building up a stock of ore bags and rocks for the saw that will be sold in fall and winter or if he‘ll even process the ore himself with the equipment he builds and sells. This is great stuff, I think it should be supported federally as one thing hasn’t changed: It needs someone who farms or digs the thing so that someone else can make something out of it. Just importing from foreign countries is not sensible. Jason is sharing the gold fever!

Track bender is easy to make!! Just requires a 5 pound jack depending on the size of the rail. A U shape that wrapped around the rail with a ball jack in the middle, pinch the rail and slide it down and pinch it again to make the curve.

Want a real rush stay underground when you blast. Did underground mining back in 06-09 and several times we stayed in the mine during the blast, what a rush. The Shockwave is amazing. Used to fire 100 pounds of blasting gelatine from 60 to 70 yards - now that was 'interesting' .... get the wire shot curtain closed and let her rip. Hand filling a 16x12 foot tunnel and a 6 foot pull was the definition of hard graft..... and I wonder why, in old age my body is wrecked.

Hi Jason. Looks bloody awesome. Just a thought - why not setup a 8-10" suction hose and a venturi to pull all that muck out fast. You have enough water there it looks to pull. Or you could blast a small hole to dump material into to act as a pond. Pretty much what we do in the ocean.

Yet another fascinating learning vid, Jason, great job. Play by play. I almost cried a little when you didn't take your time and get those big chunks! It's easy from this side of the screen to have a strong opinion. It ain't my fat ass humpin' tons of rock all day! My body is 30 years past joining you guys, otherwise I'd be there in a heartbeat. Even 20 years back, and like, 15 less surgeries, I'd have been down. There's nothing about the whole process that doesn't fascinate me. I never shied away from manual labor, either. Ranch family work ethics help. As teens, a buddy and I made extra cash digging ditches by hand, so I'm familiar with the heft of a shovel full of soil! Keep up the outstanding work. If you're going to be investing more in your trackwork you might want to look into aquiring some proper tapered wheels for the trucks. The double-flanged rollers you have at the moment will keep the truck secure on low-qulaity track, but actual railway wheels will roll a lot smoother.

However, I have a question that popped up in my head. Since you explained the "tattle tales" and what they do, what do you do if one doesn't show detonation? I don't remember anyone who works with explosives mentioning that before. By the way, those specimens with the largest pieces of gold were unbelievable! 😍 I would suggest 'cleaning' them to show the gold better in situ. Collectors would kill for that! For the rail, you could probably use a decent sized pipe bender (or an adaptation of one), seeing as the rail isn't too big. Another option, seeing as you have air, is to use a pneumatic jack attached to a heavy duty clamp. Anything has to be better than plastic on wood for moving the ore. Another thing to take into account, when designing your cart, is to make it work like a train the axles need to be fixed to the wheels, and the wheels need to be tapered to self-centre and deal with curves.

Normally I would say "throw it in the crusher", but you need to hold on to a piece or two for your cabinet. For those times you can't get to the mine, you will have something to look at to feed the fever.

Seems like you should be able to fab up a track bender w/ some old drum brakes mounted face to face and welded together, to use as the fulcrum. Still need the other end where it grips on, maybe you could use another brake drum assembly for that part too?
