What would have helped me a lot in high school was if teachers would have started with the big picture and zoomed into details after that; not the other way around. Metaphors or analogies are very helpful. Time to reflect on meaning / significance, concepts and relationships between concepts / scaffolding, is super important. Independence and innovation are valued and please NO micro-management of set-work / learning tasks. Expect most infj's will do better in the independence of college-level education than in a controlled or stifling school environment. Occasional classes under the trees, would be fantastic

For the sake of accuracy I have to say that not all INFJs ask the question 'Is it good for people?' every time they get new information. The same is true for the "overall effect of it" question. Fe process does not always guide our actions. When selecting a subject I wanted to study in college I was driven primarily by my Ni. I chose theoretical physics, and solely because I get fascinated by its beauty and its ability to describe the whole Universe (at least more precisely than any other discipline). This is also a quite alluring example of Ni guiding people throughout their lives. I also agree with other commentators that many INFJs love competing environments. Although it does not seem to correspond the idea of "Harmony process," it is true. Despite this competitiveness however, Fe tries to keep the environment peaceful and tries to still nurture the ones who are falling behind, so that they would not feel embarrassed or unworthy

I noticed I have a few problems with studying for some subjects. People consider me the smartest of the class but I fail in math because our teacher and workbook is very unstructured. We never get proper formula's or in depth explanation on how to solve certain math problems. She just does a few examples in front of the class on max speed and when she expects us to understand. She also demands answers while we're still writing. I always get a headache during her class because I have to focus on too much at the same time. We listen, think, solve, write at the same time while also answering her questions. Her tests are also much much harder than the exercises in our workbook. Usually if you make exercises you will most likely be able to do the test well but not in her class. Even a few of my other classmates have said this. The worst is that they tell me I'm not good in math but the thing is I know that I CAN be good at math if it was explained to me in a more structured way with enough explanation and time to review.

When I was in high school we had a professor doing the same, sometimes actually we were the ones to correct her. I failed that year 'cus I just couldn't understand the way she was teaching us. So, I went to my cousin, she was at some math collage or something. She explained the whole year of my math class in 2 hours. Went in August to fix my grade. Most of others there were confused by tests, had to help them a bit. I passed. Just beacuse someone can't explain you the way you could understand it, doesn't mean that you're uncapable of managing it 😁

Absolutely spot on! Thank you for sharing. Yes, the being volunteered. If I thought I knew the answer, I would raise my hand. I don’t like to talk just to fill a space with noise. And I don’t always want to make others privy to my thinking process. Now I’m confused a bit as I don’t know whether I’m an INTJ or INFJ 🤔 If I’m working on an intellectual product, I must be satisfied that it meets two conditions: 1. It must have internal coherence irrespective of audience or purpose. It’s like an aesthetic pleasure taken at the beholding a thing well made. Does it stand on its own? The technical bit. 2. It must work. The criterion for efficiency is the degree to which it fulfils its purpose ie enhancing human wellbeing. Is it good for people? The teleological/ moral/ social bit. Intrinsic coherence with social value and purpose. Say, for example, I can admire the ingenuity of a piece of technology that is very well made, but I wouldn’t ever work in theoretical sciences oblivious to the possible practical implications on people. I would never construct a solid/valid argument if it’s disingenuous. I would not invent a nuclear weapon just because the physics behind it are beautiful. Maybe INFJs are INTJs with a conscience?

When I was younger I was easily embarrassed being in the audience or watching someone be too showy... I practice whatever it is that I’m into VERY INTENSELY while completely alone.... When exercising I don’t mind being around people, but don’t dare try to yell at me while doing something like lifting weights thinking it will make me lift more, I’m already giving 110% to the goal and you’re likely just going to agitate and annoy me while simultaneously decreasing my performance. I excel at individual pursuits, my inner drive is unstoppable, but only when I perceive the goal as important. I cannot concentrate on attempting to learn anything I don’t perceive as important. Directing group attention to me embarrasses me, giving me one on one individual praise and acknowledgement on behalf of a group I may have helped achieve a goal is best... Sincerely, INFJ

Pretty accurate assessment of my preferred teaching and learning style. I really enjoyed great lectures because I could listen and think at the same time, and ask questions to help me make the connections I needed. I formed connections quickly and questions/concepts that seemed like common sense to me were often not to others. I completely hated any form of group work or learning activities because of the lack of knowledge and enthusiasm from my classmates and their work reflected that. A lot of professors I noticed don't always seem enthusiastic about engaging with the higher-level thinking students, sometimes completely crushing opposing ideas without explaining why it's wrong, or dumbing down answers when you're expecting an interesting high-level explanation.

Other things that help are no multiple choice tests where you're just given people's names or the year. I won't remember Balzac or Zola, but I will remember the guy who wrote the book with the poet turned journalist getting screwed over because he didn't stick to the life of a writer and instead sold out to journalism v the guy who wrote Les Rougons-Macquarts, was in Paris during the Paris Commune and did not like it but did not like the Semaine Sanglante more, and about the Dreyfus Affair. Or I'll be able to tell you the guy who did what happened to Paris in the later half of the 19th century, but in NYC and mid-20th. Similarly, I can't tell you what year Dracula was published, but I can tell you it was a year after Nintendo started as a playing card company.

First of all, take notes of what you reading (what was the principal idea, what did you think of it, write the details, the arguments and points of view). Once you have notes of the book, try brainstorming ideas for what you would like to write, now you land on a topic of your gusto, try rescuing information of your notes, so you can spread yourself with solid information. You know, I used to have a similar problem, I love reading, but I rely in my head too much so I would get lost only on my feelings, my insight of what I read🤗.
