Been working at Borroloola for the last 2 months and just caught my 1st legal Barra. Off the bank with bait (not live) caught earlier in the day. 81cm he was. Pure luck. Love the fishing here and love this channel. Nice work mate.

Man that’s awesome. I bet she was a nice, fat, MacArthur River Barra. Do yourself a favour and get out the the islands. It is so beautiful out there.

@@MikeyCunninghamFishing Thank you man. I have 5 weeks left in this wonderful place and definitely plan to visit those islands.

I was surprised you said you usually bait fish for barra. I've caught well over 100 barra and am yet to catch one on bait. They are just suckers for a good lure. I'll have to go through KZbin and find some videos on bait fishing in the tropics. All tips are worth watching. And as I get older the bait fishing is more my suitable.

A big live mullet mate. The bigger the better. The Barra will pick it up and slowly start swimming with it. You see your line moving and the heart rate starts rising. It’s pretty awesome. Although over the last couple of years I’ve done way more lure fishing for Barra.

@@MikeyCunninghamFishing Thanks, the bigger lures also seem to be the key. Makes sense.

Good luck with lures. Those minnows you throw sure work good.

I built rods for several years and I used ugly sticks all the time because the sportings goods stores got boxes of them so I went thru all those to find 'good' ones to use.

With lures you're going to find active fish, have fun.

Hey man great video! I will let you know barra do fray leader when they swallow lures. Great vid tho

Hi mate. Although Barra don’t have teeth, they can fray the line a bit. Nothing like Queenies or Blue Salmon though. Thanks for watching mate.

Thanks mate. Glad I could help. I’m the only person in the entire region making regular, original content. So I get quite a lot of people in your situation that are simply looking for information about the area.

Great Video Mikey, great to see people doing youtube in the NT, man how come you go so light on the line? 10lbs Braid? wouldn't you give up fishing if you dropped a metery on 10lbs?
