Snap on is cool, but it doesn’t make you more money. That box for 1k is badass. Probably more then anyone will ever need. And for that price you can get 10x of them compared to their 10k dollar plus snap-off

I have a similar box and I love it it’s the one with a top chest instead of side locker and hutch same color and price range.... as far as tools go I highly recommend the Milwaukee 1/2” m18 high torque impact and either the Milwaukee and or snap-on cordless 3/8” ratchet and or impact... 3/8 swivel sockets, and the FDX snap on sockets are all purchases that have made my life easier in the shop...

Just ordered a husky 72" tool chest and it came dented and scratched up like crazy. So I had to bring it back and demand one that is in a box
@lsxbird7874

I wish i had seen this box about 8 months ago. I found the husky 52" with the top chest. Has been a decent box for $898, but i have found that the drawer slides are shit ( as to be expected ) , and they really could give you better storage arrangement of drawers instead of two massive drawers that waste space. If i had seen this box, i wouldnt need a new box but its time for me to upgrade to a more fitting box for the trade. Found me a snap on 55" classic for a good deal, and will be getting a hutch and side locker soon

Reflecting back on 45 + years as a mechanic (ten as a vehicle and 35 as a aviation mechanic) I was always the cheap guy on tool boxes. I always went for the higher quality tools but I stored my tools in a 27" Waterloo box that was branded Bonney and I used that tool box from the start of my journey to the finish when I retired. You can tell my main basic tools were Bonney (they went out of the tool business in 1995). I was always fugal with the money and only bought tools as I had the cash to pay for it. Oh yeah the truck brand boxes are SWEET but I was always on the thing if I cannot pay cash I will make what I have work and I did it. Oh I had the coworkers (peer pressure) tell me I needed to step it up and get a Snap-on box *Oh yeah step it up and I ignore the comment as I had no truck debt. I did things to my old Waterloo box as in pulling drawers and welding on reenforcement to the bottom of the drawers, installing a 1/4 aluminum plate to the bottom, getting better casters, building a side box for the larger items. I always said get the best you can for the tools but get the cheapest possible toolbox.

If it works for you then why switch right? I'm looking at this same box because I can afford it but I never understood why these techs go in debt 10's of thousands of dollars forever bc they have to chase the dollar just to pay for the box. I guess I just look at it as my box works for me i dont work for my box.
@mikeske9777
@mikeske9777 3 жыл бұрын
@@theirishman088 I did it for 40 plus years and it worked for me.. I understand that it might not work for some using a beat up old box and I have some of the leadership come to check toolboxes (per FAA requirements) and the first box they want to see inside was mine. They reason that trashed out old box has to have something wrong with it. I passed every time as everything in my box was shadowed and everything inside had a place for it with nothing extra (just glad they did not want to see inside my locker). I guess that after a while they came to realize it was a waste of their time and stopped doing to me in the few years I was working.
@theirishman088
@theirishman088 3 жыл бұрын
@@mikeske9777 wow I'm surprised they checked your box. Don't get me wrong all the guys that have big expensive boxes love them and say it gives them the space and organization they need which I get but for the money I dont know lol. I work in a body shop as a painter so I guess I can get away with a smaller cheaper box bc i dont need as many tools.
@mikeske9777

@@theirishman088 Aviation mechanics work in a highly regulated environment. There are certifications that are required on calibrated tools that have to be done on some of them every 6 months to 12 months. Toolboxes and tools have to be account for at the beginning and the end of the work day. Toolboxes and tool bags must be regularly check by supervisors and documented. No pencil pushing the inspections. You have to log in and out your personal daily inspections at the beginning and the end of the shift. No one tool can not be unaccounted for. It has been found tools left on aircraft post delivery to the customer airline. I don't want to be the mechanic that "forgot" that tool.

That's not exactly a beginners box it has 19 gauge, I worked in retail and he can get atleast half his money back.. please tell him! Please tell me why that's not a high quality box besides the fact it was abused? A snap on would get smashed also if you get a kra box hutch and side locker im sure that husky still has more features. The only thing that makes me want a snap on box is how you can have 2 or 3 long top drawers and better drawer arrangements.

Is it both styles of toolbox widgets that fit it the smaller drawers? The straight and the angled type? I have the husky with the top chest but the main drawer on the bottom only has one slide and can’t hold the wait of my 1/2 sockets (all impacts) and doesn’t slide in very nicely. And have been thinking about going with the style with the hutch instead but I’m losing out on quite a few drawers
