I love McCannDog Training! I got a new puppy almost 2 weeks ago, and from day one we followed your training. My pup (Camper) is doing really great! He is sitting on command every time, even when distracted, walking on a leash with me short distances to his outside pen and back, and so much more. Everything I learned from your instruction works so well! Consistency was key. Thank you so much for putting these videos out for free for us. Thumb up, Shared and Subbed.

Thank you! This has been such a game changer. I was struggling with different techniques and was feeling frustrated about how to help my little 7 month old golden girl become a good walker. I just started doing this training a few days ago and I'm already feeling reassured that we found the right training! Lots of work to be done, but it's going great after just a couple sessions. She's already sitting down every single time I stop, and realized she needs to stay beside me and pay attention to me. Phew, what a relief. You guys are great.

My now 9 month old pit/lab mix at 14 weeks tried our first real walk and didn't even get past the first house when the dog nextdoor charged us, he managed to go through the chain link fence. To this day she is still reactive to anything outside of the safety of her backyard even some noises frighten her when she's back there. @@pb4ugo19 Here's what worked for Jax. I went to the Dollar Store and bought the cheapest leash they had. I got 2 actually. I put it on him and just let him attack it, chew it, whatever. I didn't try to stop him or correct him. After awhile, it became less and less as a toy and eventually, he lays down with it. I would leave it on him for about 20 minutes or so each time before I would remove it. I did this everyday for about a week until he realized it wasnt as much fun as he once thought. I think he thought I was "playing" by trying to get him to do what I wanted to do and not what he wanted. He treated it like it was toy because he thought I did. Once I just left him to it, it wasn't as much fun. The Vet recommended this to me and at first, I thought, you don't know this puppy. But apparently, its typical in puppies. Today, he'll be a year old on the 22nd, he uses the leash as it's intended but honestly, I haven't taken him on actual walks. Just back and forth from the car to the Vet or Groomers, etc. As soon as the weather gets better, we will attempt the actual walks. But even still, I can put the leash on him right now and he doesn't attack it. Patiences and maturity in your puppy will speak for itself. :)

Hi there, Lara! It's fairly dependent on your pup. Once you have a foundation of skill. your dog can start going on more structured walks around the 16-week mark. At that point, your walks may be from driveway to driveway. or just a few feet. Focusing on good walking is FAR more important than the length of the walk. Adding some other physical exercise into the training is important (and much more fun for both you and your dog). Here's a link to watch some videos on exercising that your dog will enjoy: kzbin.info/aero/PL7BBgLulhermN5Zxa_eVBRdl9wXQsuQc0

Kind of random but we are picking up our Aussie next week and I’m looking into food brands. I’m hearing that the high protein, low grain diets are causing heart issues?? It’s like the opposite of the fad they just had us believing in. Very annoying actually. So now the vets are recommending Purina Pro Plan and Hills Science Diet even though they are packed with by-products and grains. Vets are no different from other doctors they will take kick backs or payments for advertising their products. Purina is now owned by Colgate?? What do they know about dogs???
@___________________________..2 жыл бұрын
There is no reason to feed grain free if your dog is not having issues with grains. What does matter is if the food is AAFCO approved. There has also never been any evidence of vets being paid to recommend dog foods by the company. A lot of people may stray from the larger brands due to them being corporate, however many of them recruit vets, pet nutritionists, and scientists to develop their food and host feeding trials. Tl;dr: grains are ok, but make sure the food is AAFCO certified
