In this movie I show a detailed bunch of trouble shooting ways to get that old power saw running again, air leaks can be a bugger to find, old power saws ,chain saws, carb fixes, fuel line install, gas tank replacement.

Hi Billy, Just found your channel. I have a Mac 10-10 I bought new. Used it for several years then put it to bed. After sitting for at least 20 years got it out, sharpened the blade and put it to work on old railroad ties for our range. Run it most of one day fitting the ties into the bays, then a couple weeks later cut down a large tree from my yard. Cut it up for firewood, on second day it quit while cutting. Took it apart looking for a problem, Because of age and ethanol fuel line felt soft so I replaced it and the filter. Still would not start. Silly me, had not checked spark. The kill switch was shorted out with chips from the creosote railroad ties. Cleaned it, put it back together and now running like it was new. McCulloch saws are tops in my book.

This is the first video of yours I ever watched and nothing is any better than seeing a technical perfectionist walking on the top of the mountain across a tight rope of perfect mechanical balance. I have a 1953 Ford Jubilee and a 1952 Allis Chalmers WD wide front end my Grandfather and my Father bought new respectively. They were “retired” to mowing and gardening in the late 1970’s and still run well now. Neither tractor has ever been apart, no even a clutch, radiator, generator, nothing in 67 and 68 years. For over forty five years I have ran the same two “worn out” 16 inch Harley Davidson motorcycle tires on the front of the Ford for mowing and bush hogging. They are great turf tires. I have a great late 1980’s Pro Mac 7.

I have a Pro Mac I bought used in 1992. The way you do it is an art and a finess of mechanical dance. You have inspired me to dig into mine. I once worked for a WWII veteran who was Snapper Lawn Mower and McCulloch authorized dealer and his grungy little 20 by 36 foot shop kept all the loggers in the area going. He picked up mowers at people's homes, serviced and returned and if a guy needed a saw while his was being fixed, usually the same day, they all knew they were welcome and free. Service in WII and service to his fellow man all life long. I think of him often and remember his presence. They are great saws and I know the tune they play by heart as well as a 2cycle Detroit saw mill motor. People came to him from forty or sixty miles away because he was honest and excellent. Troy, North Carolina.

Put a new coil in the Farmsaw II, and milled out an old Dolmar bar I had hanging around. Found an air filter out there in cyber space, it came missing one, cleaned out the quiet tune muffler, piston and jug looked good, put her back together again and gave her a pull. She fired, and I ran her in some wood, not too bad. She won't idle so its carb kit time. Got one coming. Fuel lines are still in good rig, and I replaced the fuel filter last week. The coolest thing about the old beast is the compression relief lever, it actuates the valve when you pull the chord. Getting an old one going after years of not going is a great event in a sawist's life. LOL. I can relate to this video big time.

Thanks Billy Ray, I was looking for a fix for a McCulloch 10-10 every identifying mark worn off, even McCulloch name. Knew nothing about power saws but saw it running 14 yrs ago. No spark, changed plug, getting no gas, found carb kit and new gas line and filter. This video gave me encouragement to try to get it going. That was last fall but just got back to it the last week. Got her purring today. I attribute this video to even giving it a try. And you are right, it is very rewarding. Getting ready to cut some fells on my property. Thanks again. 47 yr old saw up and running because you took the time to patiently go over this procedure. Blessings!

Hwy buckin I've been messing with saws for a year now but total truth to you saying just get your hands dirty and take it apart and learn. I've been messing with pioneer p series so far but just recently got a pro mac 700 and had to fix the carb. Somebody put 1 too many gaskets in it. I am impressed with mcculloch. That guy was ahead of his time in two stroke motors. But you are totally right the enjoyment from bringing an old saw back to life that others had given up on is awesome!!!

Sven.... no usin carb cleaner on the carb... can swell the tip of the needles. Brake cleaner seems to work better if you are in the internals for the carb. Had it happen to me on a 394xp once... was REALLY annoying. wouldn't run because the carb needle was stuck because the rubber tip SWOLLLED UP lol

hey brotha you have the best saws ever made on the planet for sure ,, those saws are pushing 40 years ,, they will run another 40 years if you do a complete fuel system rebuild not just replace a fuel line or a carb clean ,, replace the carb kit and do a pressure test on it and replace the lines ,filter and gaskets ,, wouldnt hurt to do a pressure test on the crankcase for bad crankshaft seals ,, its really all simple work and when your done you have peace of mind its done right

This is the greatest show on earth, I love watching it. I've been cutting tree's for 30 years and have been a power saw enthusiast from day one. Lately we've bought some old Pioneer's; a Farmsaw II, and a PP655. Great machines, I love my European jobs too but there is something about these old beasts that transcends all reason. My wife asked me why it was that I needed that monster of a 100cc chainsaw? I told her it completes me. LOL. I'll use them until I'm to old to lift them anymore and then I'll look at them everyday and remember the great days I spent out there sawing tree's.

Hey Doug Bennett I'll add my welcome, heres to enjoying all things that transcend reason like how you said that
@dougbennett40247 жыл бұрын
These old saws are something, and wide open powerful. The PP655 is a saw I wanted to get back in the day and I went with a couple of fuel injected Dolmar's and a 268xp. For years it haunted me. One day on E-bay I saw it, and told my wife it was coming home with me. She reluctantly yielded to my idea. I have one now and by God I've requested to be buried with it when my day comes. LOL. It transcends reason I know but for those of use who love these old machines, there is nothing strange about it at all. Just ordered my carb rebuild kit for the Farmsaw II and by next Thursday another Pioneer will be shredding wood again! Thanks for welcoming me aboard Dave. I'm glad to be here with my brothers and sisters of the saw.

Holy smokes! Bucking I sent you an email about my 1010 a few weeks ago and telling you that my mechanic said that the jets were bad. Well I'm gonna look at the 1 turn on the jets, cause I think he was doing the turn and a half. WOW I'm stocked.
