Yes, a lot of private equity as with many companies these days. Since McD's is publicly traded, we get to see their top shareholders. But even private companies often have them as big stakeholders. The thing is, PEs have historically underperformed the market. Returns are better by investing in an index even if you have the millions required to get a stake in a PE.

I make my own burgers that have way more meat, cheese, tomato, pickles, lettuce and sauce for a fraction of the price. You can find the Big Mac's sauce recipe online.
@krozareq3 күн бұрын
Not much that can happen. Franchise owners have an enormous amount of long-term debt service to keep their stores updated to McD's standards. When you pay the cashier, you're mostly paying for loans, not the cost of food. I work in municipal finance. However, private companies aren't much different except where the state's local government code is concerned. Cities have a business-type component primarily for utilities (water, sewer, and trash service). Expenses are made up of 2 categories: M&O and I&S. The former is maintenance and operations, the cost to keep the operation going: payroll, repair invoices, software licenses, regular purchases, and so on. The latter is the debt service, the loans (in case of municipalities, the bonds and certificates of obligation). A high debt load, especially when most of its principal is heavily back-loaded, constrains any entity from taking on more debt and requires high charges to cover it. Even fairly modern McD locations have been completely tearing down and building new stores to keep in corporate's good graces. The tradeoff is the franchise owners need significant revenues to cover both types of expenses. Franchises are private, so I can't see their books. But it's obvious that the frequent rebuilding and renovations, as well as equipment purchases, has to be a large burden on them.

I used to end up at McDonalds about three times per week while either coming or going or being out and about but now I go there maybe once every three months if I am in a bind and they are the only option. You used to be able to get at least a small burger and some fries for a couple of bucks but no more it seems and also I avoid seed oils now that I know that they are what causes your arteries to clog. They cause inflammation and when your body tries to heal it over and over and over it builds up and that is the primary cause of clogged arteries. McDonalds needs to have at least one option for a couple of dollars and they need to fry their fries in beef tallow or palm oil. In addition they need to have a cheese that isnt made from seed oil. If all of this sounds ridiculous so be it. But I just don't go there anymore.

Once I was picking up food at McDonald’s for an Uber Eats delivery, which I did on my electric scooter. I’ve been through other drive-throughs with no issue. But at my local McDonald’s, they declined to fill even an Uber eats order, citing that I wasn’t in a car, even when their lobby was closed, so I had to cancel that other for a dumb reason and lost out after debating with the window clerk. Another incident, one frosty morning I was on my electric unicycle and I stopped in the drive-through just for coffee. I stood there for a minute or two, got no response, so I then took a seat on my electric cycle and waited. About five minutes went by until they finally acknowledged me, just saying that they wouldn’t serve me because I wasn’t in a car. They let me sit there in the cold and in silence, which I felt was a very disrespectful way of enforcing their policy, again, when their lobby was closed. I finally just left fed up and without my coffee and vowed to never return there again. I later almost caved in, I went in to order a breakfast combo meal, but when I saw that it came to around $10 I finally and forever laid to rest my desire to ever go there ever again. They did this to themselves by being $hitty and they deserve everything they are getting, I hope they fail at this point, we would all be better off without them. 🙏🧘

Why eat at MacDonald's? With prices like their's it's better to eat at a fine steak house. 25 cent burger & fries days are long gone, never to be experienced ever again.

Not shut them down, just limit how many times you can eat out McDonald's is loaded in calories and sodium. A large french fries has 510 calories that doesn't include the soft drink or bigmac 😢.

It's not that people can't afford it. It's the fact it now tastes like slop! I went into a McDonald's a few weeks ago( hadn't been for over a year). Sent burger back an got a refund. Absolutely disgusting. Tasted horrible. Inedible. That's the reality.

Changing the drink system from the dining room to the kitchen is a negative without enough employees to handle the extra work. It means the customer waiting longer to get the drink and food and standing in line waiting for a refill. Yes, Chic-fil-a uses this system but they usually have adequate staff to handle it. A nearby McDonalds has become a hang our for transients since changing ownership which makes it uncomfortable for families to dine inside.

McDonalds' brand is associated as a cheap burger chain. It's not cheap anymore. Can pay a little more for much higher quality meals. Even dressing up their restaurants (on the franchisee's dime) as a Starbucks lookalike isn't going to change that fact.
