I loved working on those planes. Very mechanical, very simple.

You can tell that that is a very early production model because the tailcone is pointed later models had the beaver tail cone I worked on those aircraft as a mechanic for McDonald Douglas so that brings back memories for me anyways

Also what kind of engine does that thing have lunch again I worked on those at McDonald Douglas and that does not look like a Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217 The engine cowlings are completely different almost like the one she would see on an MD 90 and that is an MD90 Anyways just asking I still remember a few things from these old aircraft

Saddened view to see one of legendary aircraft sits on remote field, looking weary and abandoned, have no wings to fly freely again.

This is an older video of this aircraft, I was positively surprised a couple of months ago, where I found this plane totally cleaned up from the outside!

I just want to touch one of its wings and sit in one of the pilot seats before I die. That's all.

@craftforceXL6 жыл бұрын
Hi attben. There are several days in a year when they have "open doors" on that airport, so you can get on the plane and have it explained to you if you are interested.

“World’s Quietest MD-80?” What kind of Super-80 is this? Quiet and MD-80 aren’t supposed to be in the same sentence 😂
@m.hstudioproductions66424 жыл бұрын
Actually, this MD-80 was a testbed for a newer hushkit system designed for the aircraft to be more compatible with Chapter 4 noise restrictions.

NO, it no longer flies. The plane is parked in MBX for years, engines removed...
