16:20 Batcave playsets have yet to top the gigantic 1995 Kenner Batman Forever Batcave playset, as a kid I considered it the definitive Batcave and it was compatible with the Batman TAS figure lines. Toy companies need to bring that set back for future collectors.

@@JurassicRod The Batman Forever Wayne Manor Batcave Compound is the Batman Returns rerelease, the set I’m referring to is the 1995 Batman Forever Batcave. The naming of the sets is confusing. But the one labeled “Batcave” is much larger. Though the Wayne Manor Batcave rereleases (or the original) pair very well with the larger set for a full Batman Batcave diorama

Excellent (& honest) review. I had to have these when I first saw them, and finally got the figures a couple weeks ago. All of your critiques are valid. While they could have charged a bit more and done more articulation and/or detail, I'm extremely happy with the price point vs what we got. Definitely seems more for display than for play. Mine will be displayed loose and really are exactly what I had hoped for. Looking forward to the upcoming Catwoman, Riddler, & Penguin...and hopefully other great '66 villains.

I think the biggest problem with the Batman and Robin figures is that the cape on both looks absolutely bland and lifeless. Some extra length and a wire would have gone a long way. Glad you completed the set, Dean!

You're correct, but for a $30 toy, they did a pretty decent job, albeit a bit on the small side.

I've no idea what they were thinking with that box, but it was a terrible decision to leave so much of the Batmobile exposed.

The only thing the McFarlane figures have over the Mattel is the paint quality and I suppose the build quality, too. His paint is nice and matte/flat whereas Mattel's is very shiny, and I'm no fan of shiny paint on a figure if the figure isn't supposed to be that way. It's what turns me off of Super7's Ultimates line. You get these nice figures but they all look like they've been working out for an hour due to excessive shine. However, one huge problem that McFarlane's figures have, paintwise, is the lack of detail. The best thing to look at is Robin's belt. The Mattel belt is perfect. It's black and you have the R but you can also see that the capsules/pockets that would hold items are also painted gold. If you look at the McFarlane belt those gold parts are all black. The thing you have to know about this line is that it's considered a budget line, so he cut corners everywhere. Every time you make a paint stroke it costs money, so he's saving 6 or 7 cents US on every figure by leaving that detail off. I'm sure that's why the capes are the way they are too. Now if McFarlane would start throwing in the alternate heads he likes to make with the original figure everything would be grand.

Sadly, McFarlane did offer alternate heads but only on chase figures, which now sell for about $80 on eBay.

Nice! I like those figures ,Bat cave is wicked the car is ok hasn't got that POW! for me, i would give it a paint in high gloss black and chrome those wheels ,i look forward to seeing what your mattel car is like with them..still what a allsum set The best thing is our ozzy brothers are doing the deal in there shops, usually its oz and nz at the bottom of getting anything, nice to see the boot on the other foot ..thanks for the video will..n.z

There was no shortage of playsets from the 80's with no real play value, like Cloud City or the Star Wars Cantina, and this Batcave is far better than either of those examples. This Batcave is almost perfect for me, because I prefer 1:18 scale action figures, and the playset is so undersized that it fits 3.75"-4" figures far better. I'll eventually customize it by replacing the flimsy ladder, railings and Batpoles with metal versions when I have the time.

If they'd have charged $1 more, they could have made better capes. Heck, they could have made better capes without charging any more at all. The car is a huge disappointment. @@AllThings80s Sure, having figures from the 1960s Batman series is great! I have Batman, Robin, Joker, Penguin, and the Batmobile from the Mattel multiverse series and am quite happy with them. I’m really not that happy with the majority of McFarlane DC figures. I have several and the quality, in my opinion, is kinda poor. Example: the Bane build a figure doesn’t even stay together! I bought all the figures for Bane and every part doesn’t snap into place. The Darkseid and Steppenwolf figures, however, are pretty good.

I don’t buy modern figures because of all these stupid store exclusives that nobody can ever get because of scalpers. There is so much cool vintage toys from the eighties and some cost just as much or a bit more then these $30 new figures. Although I do have the Kenner Batman Darknight Collection from 1990 figures with Wayne Manor Command Center Batcave and Batmobile and I think they are better than modern McFarlane. You won’t pay that much more compared to new scalper prices
