Come listen to me talk all things Batman with a little Batman figure comparison between some McFarlane Toys Batman figures and the new Rerelease of the previously "SDCC Exclusive" NECA Batman from the NECA Batman vs Alien 2-pack! I think the biggest issue with the detectve comics batman is that it lacks shading, but I do love that figure still.

I love the McFarlane Arkham Asylum Batman! I love the Neca Batman, he's top notch. Oh, btw, it's a glue grenade for the Arkham weapon...

I've found that frozen joints on Neca figures unlock best by putting them in the freezer or a few minutes, it makes the joint more stiff and rigid rather than gummy when you heat it...

I broke the arm off my neca ahab but managed to glue it back on.i snapped the head off my hiya toys guardian predator but glued that back on too.i'll say 1 thing about the joints on the mcfarlane figures they are solid i have dire from fortnite its so cool.i love this arkham batman i'll definitely get it but i'll white the eyes out.

Dude great review. First time I've seen someone show the full range of the leg articulation; most of the others I've seen only lift the legs halfway. You just made me buy this man thanks! I understand and acknowledge that thigh swivels break up the sculpt and sometimes, when articulated, they can look a little unsightly. I also acknowledge that is super difficult to get any useful dynamic poses out of a figure that can’t swivel the thighs. 🤣

Several Wal-marts near me have multiple NECA sets, and I think they had a yellow clearance sticker on them, but I don't remember the price. I already have one set from a friend who went to SDCC.

I like the look of that Arkham Asylum Batman (one of my favourite versions) but it's weird that he comes with two weapons from the Arkham Origins game. Would have been nice to get exploding gel and the grapple gun.

Even though you are a fan of Neca I'm glad you told the truth about Neca figures. I'm not as handy as you are and I don't think I should have to perform surgery on a $30+ figure just to get it to do some simple poses. I will stick to McFarlane.

Nice review. Thanks for posting it. I was thinking of the skipping the McFarlane Arkham figure, but now I may have to pick it up. BTW, you should have also included the DCC Essentials Knightfall Batman in your comparisons. I personally think it's the best comic accurate classic Batman out there. Tons of sculpted detail, plus it has Marvel Legends level articulation. (Thigh cuts and all).

That one looks really good! How are the joints on that one? On most of the DC Essentials figure, you pose them once and then all the joints are loose. 😂 particularly the ankles.

@@figurethisfigures4785 I had that problem with the Essentials Rebirth Batman figure, but I haven't had it happen with the newer releases of the Knightfall Batman or Catwoman figures. The arkham joker is one of the best McFarlane dc releases to date, up there with hellbat, all the white knight figures,etc. people have an issue with the headsculpt but it just adds to the charisma and character of the figure. Some pieces just really capture the essence of what they're based on and that figure really nails it. It's also a great head sculpt to modify into a 89 movie joker with minimal effort. Reducing majority of the chin, altering the hairline/hair sculpt and adding a tiny bit of whatever your choice of sculpting clay to fill out sections of the face to add some weight makes for a real striking resemblance to Nicholsons turn as the joker. As far as this batman release goes, it's the best version of this design anywhere near this scale. Nitpicking, my only complaint would be the sculpt on the legs which seems to be something carried over from the lines initial, sort of test efforts as they're gaining their footing. Just a tad more muscle on the thighs and shape to the shin guards as they go down toward the ankles would've made this a 10/10 for me. Could care less about the eyes since I've always painted them all white on every arkham related batman figure I have from every company aside from hot toys. That said, they should've used the same technique they used for the golden armor ww for his eyes for that more realistic look which made it work for the game but never really in figure form. Making the mouth plate and eyes a separate piece painted on its own and then glued to the cowl is probably the easiest and best way to accomplish this but enough of my rambling already. It's a great figure at a great price, you can't go wrong and make sure you ignore reviewers about the joker, it will quickly grow on you and become a favorite amongst your joker figure collection or listen, pass it up an pay a stupid price on the secondary market in the future as you retroactively go back and pick up figures you passed on like it is with all dc related collectibles. Oh yeah, first thing you should do when you get this figure is boil some water, fill up a tall glass with it and place this figure in it up to his underarms. Just put him in the Jesus pose so his arms keep him from being completely submerged and obviously hang the cape outside the glass so it doesn't go in the water. Pull it out, place him in the static, completely neutral pose making sure everything is lined up exactly how you want it and then pop him in the freezer for a few minutes.

I scored the neca DC 2 packs on the NECA websites summer and fall of last year. You had to be there on time at 1:00 or tough luck. Honestly these were easier to get than the neca tmnt wave 2 movie set at the time. It was a total shit show.
