Anne and Nancy are my God Parents. I have an uncle who worked as a Recording Engineer on the first two Heart albums which were recorded at 'Dreamboat' Annie 1976, at Can-Base Studios, which later become Mushroom Studio,s and Little Queen.1977. I was a 9 year old kid who used to accompany the Uncle to the Recordings and sit on the floor while the records were being cut. The Sisters in their words « adored the quiet little boy who was a joy to sing to », which they have said since then that I made the recording sessions pace more peacefully. I still have the first 2 albums signed by the entire Heart band with lipstick kisses signed by Ann and Nancy. I cherish them both to this day, the albums and the sisters as well. When they have played in Montreal, Quebec I always have comped, back-stage passes and the dressing/band rooms too. From the late 70's til now, I have been to so many Heart concerts it is hard to recall them all. The Band have always loved to play Montreal the City that launched Heart upon the way to becoming a super group that they are today, memorable concerts of recent years 2010, 2012,2013-2014, and the upcoming 2016 will surely be as memorable as all of the others. I don,t recall much from the formative years but I fondly recall being that young tyke on the recording rooms floor as they sang to me. Ann and Nancy loved singing to me, as it made the recording process less painful. Montreal and Michael love Heart !

I’ve had a huge crush on Ann Wilson from the first time I laid eyes on her, singing this song on the Midnight Special. Saw Heart in concert, and the crush grew exponentially. Ann’s voice is that clear, smooth and beautiful in person. And Nancy’s guitar work is second to none. Shook Hands with Ann at an after party, and was all rubber-legged. If you want to know how great they are, who was chosen to sing, “Stairway to Heaven” at the Kennedy Center’s honor of Led Zeppelin?And more importantly, whose pure voice brought Page and Plant to tears?

I agree, it is just sexism. She is clearly one of the best RNR singers of all time.
@anneominous71725 жыл бұрын
@@ultrasynthax3046 I imagine sexism has little to do with it (I'll wager the likes of Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks and Pat Benatar are mentioned in said discussions). The problem as I see it is that Heart could never really be pinned down to one genre (which is actually what makes them so good) as their sound evolved so frequently over the years. You couldn't really call them a straight rock band as they're so diverse. Led Zep were diverse but primarily a rock band - Heart were diverse enough that they can't really be pinned to one genre. Not everything regarding men and women has the lurking scent of sexism at its core - in fact with the majority of things, if you really think about them from an objective viewpoint, biases don't even come into it. Although having said all that, Ann Wilson has been mentioned in just about every discussion of all time best rock vocalists I've ever seen and Heart are widely recognised as being among the greats in the Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame, so I'm not sure what the original poster is on about. @douseyfachem: While Ms. Ronstadt became a great singer over the years, (like James Taylor, she was not well-received in the early days by record producers) I believe Ann Wilson is in a class by herself; to be able to "switch gears from something as heavy as "Barracuda" to the sweetness of "Dog & Butterfy," is proof-positive of both her dexterity and overall capability. Did you know she fronted a Led Zeppelin tribute band in her younger days, to near perfection? A remarkable feat at that time, with Robert Plan at the peak of his sonic power.

I was lucky enough to see Heart in concert in Germany in the 80's. They were unbelievable. Ann and Nancy put on a fantastic show. It was the Bad Animals you. The whole band was great. They rocked.

We had the pleasure of listening and dancing to the incredible music of Ann and Nancy Wilson and their band in the late 60's and early 70's at a cool little night club in South Surrey BC, known as 'The Bird Cage'. They were amazing then and even more amazing now! Thanks for the incredible music over all these years ladies!! ❤

This is such a lovely song! One of my favourites. Anne is one of the best female singers ever. Her and Nancys harmonies, are like golden rays of sunlight. I’m so glad they got their beginnings in my hometown of Vancouver BC Canada. To think they wandered around our streets and played in some of our venues, which are no longer here, and not far from where I was born!

You know, Ann could sing like she was on fire, or like an angel, such as this song. Nancy was always a great guitarist, and I do mean great. This acoustic arrangement showcases her talent, and Ann is pretty hard to beat on vocals. And listen to the harmony and counterpoint. I've always loved this song. Always. Not just from the 70's and good; this one is timeless.

+Jim Beszhak Yep, what I don't understand is some people keeps on comparing her to the overrated Stevie Nicks and say Nicks is better than Ann. Nope, Ann is way, way up there, sorry Stevie.

Ann is up there with Ronstadt; the greatest female singers rock ever saw. I could go on and name the others, but you already know, I'm sure. I could listen to them sing all day long, the worn out albums on my shelves reflect that. Thank god for digital and stuff that doesn't wear out!

This defines the beauty Heart - their voices in perfect harmony - Nancy brilliant classical guitar - Ann's strong, beautiful voice. (Nancy and Ann are the original rock and roll babes (even before The Runaways).

The best women I know, and have ever known, possess these exact qualities: fearless angels, who sing beautiful lullabies and whisper words of magic and secrets, but when pushed too far can also roar like lionesses....Real Woman who even get the blues... magnificent inspiration...

I’m 73. Played a couple of places. Seen and know some musicians. I hope that is enough qualification to say , what I’m trying to say. When I say, Nancy Wilson!!! Damn! This is my very favorite acoustic guitar intro, period. And gorgeous!

I'm 75 and they were the unknown opening act for Loggins and Messina in Toronto around 73 or 74. Needless to say, they blew us away! Have you heard of a Brazilian singer named Gabriel Henrique? Along with songs in Portuguese ( which are stunning) he covers some fine vocalists. I think he could cover some of Ann's vocals. Listen to his version of "all by myself". Buckle up!!

Everything about this.....from the finger picking prowess of Nancy, the subtlety of the drum beat coming in congruently to follow on the exclamatory intro harmonic, to Ann's sweet vocals and the unobtrusive keyboard chord support - the musicianship is extraordinary.
