I went to high school with Ann. I remember sitting in her living room 55 years ago (her mother had to be home for that to happen) listening to her and Nancy sing and play - and not just guitar - between the two of them they could play all kinds of instruments. I never told her, but when she would sing Cherish by The Association my heart would just ache. Her ability to put feeling and emotion into a song was a force to be reckoned with even back then. At that time, of course, we had no idea what was to come. But the first time I heard Heart on the radio I commented how good it sounded and a friend said, "Don't you know? That's Ann and Nancy." I was surprised, but it made sense - Ann wasn't famous when singing for us in her living room, and she didn't belt out the songs back then, but that voice was still that voice and you don't forget it once you've heard it. It was really good to see Ann again through this interview because the quiet, just plain good person I knew back then is still alive and well today.

When she’s pushing her vocal limits (like she does in their song “Alone” for example), I get goosebumps from the thrill. She’s FANTASTIC! And her sister Nancy is not only a great performer on the guitar, but her gift for composition on that instrument is worldclass! And the other guitarists in Heart - the guys - have produced some of my all time favorite riffs! Heart was a band meant to be. I’m so thankful the Wilson sisters followed thru on their desire and dream to make music. I can’t imagine the world of music without them or the TIMELESS CLASSICS they’ve given us.

If you play Heart Greatest Hits, maybe you already understand a lot about the hard rock musical approach of the 70s including the influences, arrangements... and the recording production & mixing style (to my ear often fairly isolated, clean clear dry sounds with very precise and formal-sounding overdubs - kind of the antithesis of a live recorded version which tended to blend together more and have more 'human feel' to it.)

This caught everyone by surprise as people thought more prestigious bands should have been inducted first. R.E.M. made it into the Rock In Roll Hall of Fame during the first induction. Their first hit was in 1981. Heart had already made a name for themselves as a being a major rock n roll band before R.E.M with popular hits of Magic Man, Dreamboat Annie, Barracuda, Crazy on You, Little Queen, and others. Heart has definitely achieved alot more success as a band than R.E.M. and they are still a main band on classic rock stations.

First, as I have mentioned to you before here, Heart was and still is my favorite band of all time. Their music was incredible, and had a profound impact in that time, and later as well. But those years, it was not only great music but almost an anthem. AND, of course, I had THE BIGGEST crush on Ann Wilson. Her voice was like a siren's song, and she was so incredibly gorgeous, and I am sure I wasn't the only one in that age group to feel the same way. During that time, I had just bought the car of my dreams, a 1976 Mercury Capri Black Cat limited edition. I had the moon roof, the 5 speed, 2000 v6 engine, which really lit that little light weight car on fire, and of course, the OBLIGATORY Blaupunkt 8 track stereo system with 6 speakers. The car wasn't much bigger than the speakers! And I played that tape, and particularly that song wide open, most of the time. The only way I can describe the feeling of flying down the highway here in Arizona (where at the time there were still some you could do that on ), just after sunset, windows down, roof open, and Magic Man testing the limits of my speakers, is kind of like the scene from Back to the Future, the first time he winds up the De Lorean... it was almost like reaching another dimension. And no, the song wasn't a personal "anthem" for me, or anything like that. I didn't see myself as "the Magic Man"...but Annie's vocal, Nancy and the rest of the band's instrumentation just made this such a "high", it was in itself magical. I STILL have that 8 track, as a keep sake. But I also have ALL of the successive platforms that came after that. Thank you sir, and thank you, Annie. You are still just as lovely as ever. And just found out today....our birthdays are two days apart! LOL. 6/17 and 6/19. Keep up the great work, and thanks for keeping memories of a great time alive.

I am a huge fan of Heart and the Wilson sisters! Ann Wilson is the most incredible, most beautifully, extraordinarily talented singer of all time! Just seeing her in this interview brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful soul! I love what she said about not wasting their beautiful energy on singing about Charles Manson! I can tell she is deep and spiritual. I got to see Heart 22 years ago in Costa Mesa, CA, but Nancy was not there because she was having a baby. It was still a great show but we missed her. All the love 🙏💗👼

As a NW resident since the 70s, my parents had every Heart album they released until the 90s. My first guitar lesson involving an actual song was Dog and Butterfly and I used to learn them all. Ann Wilson.. amazing vocals. just amazing.

Oh my gosh, “ Magic Man” speaks for itself, the music, the lyrics, the musicians, and most of all Ann’s voice, gosh, just doesn’t get better. There is absolutely nothing like the music from the 70’s, one classic after another that you just don’t ever get tired of hearing it

It's funny to listen to Ann, I am now 61 and I can remember as a teenager singing along to Ann, Stevie nicks, Karen Carpenter, all my female heroes, getting Ann's high notes are still tough for me, but I still love a heart tune coming on the radio when I'm in my car driving on the road, love Heart always

I want to meet Ann Wilson so badly I could chew my arm off. I have been a fan since the beginning and, like Ann, I remember the first time I heard "Crazy on You" on the radio. I went out to our back porch and was walking and that intro came on and-no lie-I stopped in my tracks and stood there frozen. I could not believe what I was hearing. I can still see that moment to this day, almost like I was watching myself hear this-no pun intended-magic coming out of the radio, not to mention a female lead singer of a rock band. She changed my life and I'll be an admirer of hers forever.

One of the best, funkiest grooves in music history. In a thousand years, people will still be discovering Magic Man for their first time and being blown away by what a small group of incredibly talented people could do way back in AD 1975.

She is such a gifted singer. The conviction she sings 'Straight On' with gets me every time. Her and Nancy's harmonies were so powerful, and they complimented each other so perfectly. ❤

Love Ann Wilson, not only she is beautiful but has an awesome voice, I remember hearing Magic Man in Mexico when I was about 7 years old (born in 69) and didn’t know who was on the radio, later for my junior prom theme “This Dreams “ I really got into heart ❤️

I took my father to see Ann and Tripsitter at the Goodyear theater in Akron Ohio just a couple weeks ago. I grew up with all of Hearts music as well as all the bands back then. She is both mine and my father’s all time favorite female vocalist. Her new songs “This is now” and “Black Wing” are both awesome. Whenever she comes around I’ll be there with bells on. Love you Ann!!
