He was actually waiting for Eddie to loosen up and throw his hands more because he had Eddie's timing down to a T. If you go back and watch the punch that Eddie throws, it's actually so telegraphed. He's stepping back as he raises his fist and stares directly where he wants to throw it, then stops backing up and plants his feet.

That was peak Conor coming fresh off of claiming the featherweight and lightweight belts in Cage Warriors in back to back fights. The fight he had vs Ivan Buchinger for the lw cage warriors title right before his UFC debut is one of his best highlights (same pull counter he hit Eddie with) you could tell his striking was on another level even at that point. Massive for the featherweight division, young & hungry with no fame no money and no distractions. No media obligations putting him on jet planes across the nation fucking up his sleep patterns and limiting his training.

The buildup, the pre fight dialogue , the venue, the marketing, the performance, everything that went into this event was absolute gold even watching it yrs later you can see how this took the UFC brand to another level. Mcgregor’s momentum coming into this fight was incredible. Obviously their have been big events since but nothing yet has compared to the Mcgregor shows of the past. I have no doubt Conor does meditation, eats foods that help him stay loose and calm, keeps his mind empty as much as possible so he can react to the situation in flow state rather than overthinking. Man i can't lie this was a great time to be UFC/MMA fan. Especially the build up to the MSG show..Conor was still having fun with it. I could not believe he got rid of Eddie so effortlessly, imo is the best performance in a title fight..Eddie just couldnt do anything that night.

@@floatinggoose9197 As a Conor super-fan, I personally believe Nate, Eddie, Floyd and Khabib handled Conor’s trash talk best. Eddie’s just the only one who couldn’t get a win out of resisting Conor’s mental warfare. I’m sure Conor had Eddie rattled at times but he also got a few good jabs in there on Conor too during the buildup.

But they are listed together, they are listed as TKO/KO on someone's resume because they are one in the same.
