Yes sadly. Mckayla had really good lines and her bars in 2013 were marvelous (besides the form breaks;). S Her coaches just didn't know how to deal with all that talent.
@DY-zk2zt4 жыл бұрын
True. Had she been coached properly in the years heading up she really could’ve given Gabby a run for her money. Maroney was extremely talented.
@b-man-2H2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, her coaches did a HORRIBLE job with her routine construction in this quad. Her floor routine and bars routine had unnecessary built I'm deductions. Her 3rd pass on floor and her clear-hip 2nd low-to-high bar transition caused her constant problems. Both her floor and bar routine in 2013 were perfect and much better. But her horrible routine construction relegated her to a vault specialist in 2012, even if she didn't get injured.

Is it just me or does anyone else realize she cut that double back to stay in bounds? How amazing to be able to assess where she was on the floor, adjust her snap down from the back handspring, more assessment while in the air in order to land upright without over rotating and therefore going out of bounds!!! That’s more than air sense #LoveMcKayla
@gerrymiller74013 жыл бұрын
It was good, except she under rotated and took a huge step forward which resulted in pretty much the same deduction.
@treebear83649 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why a 3.5 twist is the same difficulty as a double layout. 3.5 looks a lot more difficult to do.
@chipb76858 жыл бұрын
I know right. I guess you just need a lot of height on a double layout which requires lots of power, like a 3.5
@kameroncoleman92938 жыл бұрын
Yeah. A Double Layout to not get deducted, you need to be real floaty on it (have amplitude). Otherwise, you incur like a 2 or 3 tenth deduction. Example is Shannon Miller in Atlanta she would have incurred a 5 tenth deduction today. Like, if you tear your achilles on the take-off on the DLO, then you are going to like tuck up or travel backwards out of bounds.
@treebear83648 жыл бұрын
+Kameron Coleman yeah but mckayla generates so much power on all her passes so correct form is not a problem for her. It's so sad what happened to her :( screw her coach :/ she could have come back with a triple.
@kameroncoleman92938 жыл бұрын
tree bear She landed on her back attempting a 3.5, she only got the triple full around so, i'm assuming that she was like "You know what? A Double Layout is an F and for me, all I got to do is don't touch my legs and open up."
@treebear83648 жыл бұрын
+Kameron Coleman I think it was Marta or her coach that told her not to do it. She has done 3.5 many times...that was only one incident when she fell but yeah you are right that a double layout would have been safer.

McKayla is by far the most artistic gymnast and really should've done floor. I wish her toes hadn't been broken! (And for those of you saying that Aly, Jo, and Gabby are more consistant: that may be true but Mack has her 1 1/2 add she did do floor at the 2011 worlds and they were all on that team.)

Sadly she'll probably never bring it back. Double layout is the same difficulty score, and it's effortless for her. Meanwhile the 3.5 she got a concussion during podium training for day 2 of this meet. I still don't understand why she had to do the 1.5 to the double tuck. She already had a tumbling pass with connecting elements. She could have done a double arabian - which hers is very good, so long as it's not at the end of her routine when she's probably exhausted.
