I finally got tired of getting my skid steer stuck. So I decided to buy these over the tire tracks from McLaren. In this video I will show you how to install them. The best investment I have made for my bobcat yet!

I had a bobcat wheeled machine I love my steel tracks but they are a pain in the ass when flat tires

love the review, this gives inspiration for my bobcat at work, in North Dakota during the spring thaw the clay is horrible, and during the winter months the ice is the biggest issue. the one thing I wish you would not do however, is when you were removing the rope from the tracks you made a very very rookie mistake and left your forks up in the air when you exited / re-entered the bobcat. I know it seems crazy when you think you can trust your equipment, but you should never do that. All it takes is one seal to blow at just the right time and you're wife is collecting an insurance payout.

I think you can definitely take another link out let the air out of the tires reconnect them re-inflate your tires and for god sakes buy decent wrench set will you

Watching you fight with the tracks trying to get them off the pallet hurt my head. You have a bobcat with forks, Use it. Hook a chain through the tracks and lift it with the bobcat. Next time use a come a long when installing tracks. In the end you got it to work so I will give you a thumbs up

I just stick my fork in the track and carry it to where I want to lay it out, then unroll it with the forks..

Put your tensioner on top of the tracks and use an impact on the side of the tensioner with the hex head on it to make it a whole lot quicker. Makes short work of install
@1oddog4 жыл бұрын
You can't, if you look at the chain links if you were to pull that way the links would fold down. Me, I used to use a ratchet strap underneath, way easier!

Nice tracks. Wouldn't it be easier to deflate your tires after you have the tracks in place and re-inflat after the hook up?

I would be concerned about the exposed nuts on the outside of the tracks. Hours of smashing on rocks with have them rubbed to nothing.

The nuts MUST be on the outside or they would tear up the tires.. The nuts do very well as far as wear and tear..

Do not turn off your machine with the throttle in the fast position. Let it idle a minute or so before you shut it off.. . And DO NOT START your machine with the throttle in the fast position.. The engine is screaming with no oil pressure when you first start it.. In cold weather damage will result from a cold high RPM start, both engine and hydraulics..

I feel your pain dude, I finally got my tracks on my Gehl 5620 and loved them, until they got full of mud and snow, then froze. Me and a neighbor spent an entire day f__king around trying to get them on, it was a nightmare. As great as they were for going anywhere, I took them off because they became a secondary nightmare. I am going to get a track loader and sell mt skidsteer. I have a 100 acres of swampy wet land that allot of it can only be accessed in July/Aug P.S. Bobcat is the most unreliable POS on the market for a skid loader, sorry.....

I used to have the same problem you had adjusting your wrench with small DC motors. No matter which wire I connect first it was always the wrong one and the motor would run backwards. I even went so far as to try reverse phycology but of course it was still wrong. Those tracks look awesome!
@chadnewville69804 жыл бұрын
Well having run skid steers, when! Not if you get it stuck with the tracks. Its gonna be even harder to get it out. Get more time in the seat and use the bucket/forks whatever you have on it, but use the machine to get out.

@davekimbler23085 жыл бұрын
I would fill my tires with foam or slime to practically eliminate flat tires ! As you go your tires will wear out and replace with never flat tires a little bit more then the ones you have but well worth it for sure !

I hate the concrete rude that foam filled tires give you.. The cost is about double too..

Not recommended for use with solid or foam filled tires , ruins the axle seals. If you got a rock in between tire and track could bend shaft .

No ground clearance is problem number one. These machines are for firm soil and asphalt running. You will have better with more experience . A small bulldozer would have been a better choice here.
@1oddog4 жыл бұрын
Maybe for land clearing and pushing, he seams to do a lot of other things that require lifting. It's all a compromise, what will the machine be used for most? From what I saw he might have been better off with an ASV track machine.

You are correct Toddog, I do a variety of things around here and so far this has worked really well for me. Thanks for the tip on a ASV Track machine.

How come your right track looks looser than the left one?
@skywaterhaven4 жыл бұрын
After removing this tire and having it fixed, I found out that we missed the nail that caused the flat... its still in there today. the reason one size looks looser than the other is because the tires are not all inflated at the same pressure.
@bigjay67434 жыл бұрын
The great for keeping you from getting stuck but look how much more damage they do to your lawn it's a tough call with those tracks too bad they weren't easier to come on and off they still look like there a little too loose I guess that's all you can do. Thanks for the video.
@skywaterhaven4 жыл бұрын
Yea, they are a bit loose because my tires were not inflated all the way. and my tire are really worn down. In hind sight, I wish I would have gotten the tracks with the solid pad.
@CrusaderSports2504 жыл бұрын
@@skywaterhaven solid pad tracks do not grip as well, you pays your money and makes your choice, how much lawn running do you do?.many people may have done it differently, we all live and learn, it was your first time, they are on they work so job well done!.
