It is a small dream of me to ride the Nurburgring on a motorbike once.. This video makes me jealous and I watch this video over and over again..

Great video. I have been doing avery similar route for years in cars and on bikes. You can pass through a town called Chimay famous for its beer of the same name, where there is a race track made up of public roads that are always open. It a good 4 mile lap and very fast and open with little traffic. They still race on it today. I then go cross country to Spa then up to the ring. Defo look up Chimay on a map!

Looking very young there Mr Neeves

Was there two months ago. Nearly lost it on my Kwak 636 on the turn before the one they show on the video. Was going a little too fast. Stupid cars nearly knocking me off at points because the entry line for cages is different to bikes. Very important to never go above 5th gear if you have 6 and harden your suspension a decent amount. If track is wet its very slippy.

Not sure about the remark re: leathers, been on it many time with mates wearing good textile gear etc! Great fun always!!

I am also as excited as Michael Neeves, not because I am going to the Nurburgring, its because I am the first viewer to post the first comment. Thanks MCN for the upload, but I was actually looking for a much longer video of your travel to the Nurburgring, you could have shown atleast one lap that Michael Neeves did on the ring.

Have you experienced the ring now?

This is true I completely agree. I've done like 500 laps or more on Forza Motorsports and I've come to know every single corner of the ring, not saying I'm the king of the ring but it makes all the difference. On the bike well there's al lot more work with the bumps, elevation changes, traffic, wind, noise but if you really know your way around you'll definitely enjoy it more

It's not that obvious actually. Crashing colleague's bike is worse than crashing own bike

I rode without leathers and so did many others but bear in mind that mine is top notch Hein Gericke kevlar armour jacket and pants. Others had similar.

This may sound like a dumb question, but what if I don't have the ability to bring my bike? I don't think I could afford to enjoy the luxury of shipping and planning a trip with my motorcycle to Germany from Detroit. Any chance they have rental bikes at the track?
@JanBinnendijk13 жыл бұрын
@WhenIHadHair well.. to be honest with you.. it does matter how many computergames you play.. i played Grand prix legends a lot, and the track is exactly the same.. another great one to gain track knowledge is GT4 on the playstation.. .collegueas didn't believe me at first, but after a visit to the nurburgring i acted as a navigator while they were playing GT4, they both took more than a minute off their previous records..

Took my Porsche there last September - it was a fantastic day weatherwise, but unfortunately it was a Saturday, and believe me every idiot in creation is there at the weekend! The ring was closed four times due to accidents. Definately best to go during the week if you can. Local motorcyclists are mental! (And yes I am a biker too).
@bruntr15 жыл бұрын
Oh yea....I lived that dream for over 12 years, I used to live 30 minutes from the N-ring and have over 100 laps around the track. Most fun you will ever have on a bike, weekends are dangerous, every idiot in Europe is out there, cars, bikes, buses, all run at the same time. I've seen more people killed there than any place else, best time to go is week days after work, normally nice and quite, just hard core locals.

what kind of insurance do i need to drive there?
@trkg73566 жыл бұрын
a really good one lol most of the insurance companies make a fuss about a crash on the Nürburgring (some even strictly forbid you to drive on it)

Important piece of advise: avoid riding the Ring in the weekend: all lunatics riding cars/motorcycles/coaches in Germany & surrounding countries will be there as well and that makes it really dangerous! The speed at which they drive will range from very slow (coach goin' uphill) to very fast (souped-up Porsches and such). Do not even think about chasing the locals driving Porsches in the corners! And switch your brain to street mode when you leave the Ring: The nearby roads are policed heavily.

Ok, so we drive ~3000 miles to Norway and back and fancy a trip to the Nurburgring, there was only one problem; how the hell do you get in? They're all for selling you high end performance pieces and stuff, oh, and the shop that sells the stickers was closed :@

Seriously, never ride on a track without full leather unless you don't want to have any skin/unbroken bones if you come off.

20 euros for 8-10 minutes of track time? Thats fuckin ripoff! I get 4-6 hours for approx 30-50€ (depends track). But then again none of them is like nordschleife...
