Hi , nice video , I would like to know something I couldn’t have found on internet yet , when they talk about RPM how they calculate the RPM , how they can know which RPM is ? Telemetry? Thank you .
@BertKammerer2 жыл бұрын
Most modern transmitters and speed controllers have telemetry, so once you know your gear ratio and enter that in the system, you can see your rotor RPM. You can also use an "old school" tachometer designed to read the head speed.
@carlitoxbro102 жыл бұрын
@@BertKammerer thanks for reply, is it possible to get RPM in a T-rex 450L with all that is provide by Align? Given that the ESC only provides throttle signal wire?. I saw a video where a TRex 700 comes with a ESC that provides throttle signal and a build-in BEC wire that provides RPM signal , am I in the right direction in order to get RPMS ? Or totally wrong. thank you for your videos , they are quite helpful specially the smacktalk 3d lesson.
@BertKammerer2 жыл бұрын
@@carlitoxbro10 Sorry I missed your comment, I am not familiar with the ESCs that are shipped with Align helis anymore, absolutely no idea to be honest. I would think that if the ESC only has a throttle signal wire you wouldn't be able to get telemetry out of it. Do you know the brand of ESC? I know HobbyWing provides you with RPM feedback via a second wire, but that is far from "full telemetry".

@BertKammerer2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! There is really nothing at this moment that will run on a 6s 3000, you can either go small with the new Raw 420, which needs 6s 2200 to 2600 or go larger with a Raw or Kraken 580, which will require a 6s 5000.

Is a 6s piuma a good large beginner Heli?
@BertKammerer11 ай бұрын
Yes indeed if you want a 700 class machine that is capable of flying on only 6s (single pack). It is less expensive to setup because you can use a HobbyWing 150 ESC (as an example), which is much cheaper, you only need one battery pack and the rotor speed can be set at 1800, which is far less intimidating for a beginner. With this said, I do not recommend any one to start with a 700 class machine, once you have learned to hover and control take offs and landing, you can upgrade to this and you'll have years of enjoyment out of it.

@BertKammerer11 ай бұрын
@@700sizehelisaretoosmall Correct, although a 700 shouldn't ever be a beginner's machine. Define beginner as someone who already can fly, but is not very proficient yet.

Hobbywing ESCs are hit and miss. I have owned two of them. One does fine(100A Platinum), the other (150A Platinum) failed on test spool up. Absolute Horrible customer service. I would NOT advise putting a HobbyWIng ESC on any heli that is of significant value to you. Go with a more reputable ESC for your good helis.
@BertKammerer Жыл бұрын
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I have been flying HobbyWing for years and have never had an issue with any of their ESCs. I had plenty of issues with other brands in the past though and one specific one many years ago catching fire almost every other ESC. Not the case with these. Sorry you experienced issues.

Hi Bert. I'm late to the comments on this one. Could you please tell me what the total weight was with your setup, with the 12 5000 packs? Also, I've been watching you since the Trex 600 flybar days, and I have to say, your flying is just as entertaining to watch as its always been. More technical now with flybarless and E helis, sure, but the style you have remains the same. Thanks for the years of entertainment Bert :D

Hey man, thanks for the kind comments! Believe it or not, I haven't checked the weight with 5000s, but when I do, I will let you know. It does feel in weight running 2000 head speed very similar to my standard Raw 700 at 2300, so for sure must be lighter, but I'll check and let you know in a few days.
